Phew !!! The sun has come out again and it's burning everything up. I suppose the near-by thunder storm has cleared.

I was told there was a thunder storm about 10 miles away and because it went dark here I thought we might get it too, but it has cleared up and become very hot again.

It is not all that hot 84f but very hot "feeling" because it is extremely muggy. I wouldn't mind a little more rain and the guessers say there is a 40% chance. I think I'll push that percentage up by putting my paper garden waste bag outside. It will make a desirable target ;)

It's building up here now Michael, it's become eerily dark and it's like a furnace...but still nothing registering on our forecast. 20220719_161849.jpg 20220719_155632.jpg

                      Still 39C here.

Next door's cat, Ollie, was looking a bit distressed hiding under one of our conifers (at first we thought he was dead) and we have brought him in to the cool, given him some water and he has settled down after looking a bit concerned and having to explore. I phoned his human and she will pick him up on the way home from work.

We've been following the fires this afternoon and getting all the latest updates...there's fires around the country, but worryingly the London area is densely build on, although it starts on open ground. We had fires opposite us before and in this heat the lakes become very popular with teenagers once schools and colleges break for the summer. I thought I could smell smoke yesterday so kept my phone nearby.

Just waiting for one to break out on our lovely New Forest...it happens most years sadly.

I'm hearing sirens all the time but it might just be traffic accidents.

Seems there is another big fire along the M2 near Dartford near a horse sanctuary.

We've heard a big increase of sirens going up and down the not too far away motorway since last Friday . We debated whether it was Covid related...(as we're smack bang inbetween 2 major hospitals) or due to heat fatigue/ stroke. :dunno:
