Hang on @Upsydaisy my friend I shall have to go and Google desalination be back in a minute:smile:

OK then I'm still none the wiser:smile:

The process of removing salt from seawater.

Which country has the most desalination plants?

They have got the oil now they have the water:heehee:

    Desalination in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia leads the globe in the production of desalinated water with a daily production capacity of 117 million cubic feet. The country has 27 desalination plants spread along the country's coastline with 21 located along the Red Sea and six located on the East Coast.

Well it would solve the problems of rising sea levels, there you go, two birds with one stone.

What happened to the idea of towing an iceberg south and using that.

Wow thanks Woo....we're not really even off the starting blocks then. Shame on us.

Worryingly even the icebergs aren't immune pete, they're all rapidly melting.

            Our desalination plans
Desalination was our primary approach to help meet the water supply shortfall, as outlined in our ‘Water Resources Management Plan’ agreed with the regulator in 2019.

However, following a complex options appraisal process, the desalination plans have since been halted in favour of alternative solutions.

This is just one of our strategic solutions we have explored to address water shortages in Hampshire.

Not very encouraging from Southern Water!! What solutions....bans!!

Tbh, they wouldn't half get it in the neck if they spent billions on desalination only to have 10yrs of flooding.
Our weather is too unstable to make it viable.
Next summer we are likely to be here moaning about the incessant rain and wouldn't it be nice to have a sunny day.

Well perhaps just a few in vulnerable areas then, spaced out around the country, after all every little bit would help in topping up supplies when needs must. It would certainly benefit the low river levels around here .:dbgrtmb:

Desalination plants are an excellent idea but they use an enormous amount of energy to work. So I can't see them investing in it. :dunno:

                      Hi,

Yes bang on pete; NEON GREEN 2033-10 from Benjamin Moore at around £100 per US gallon. I had enough left over from painting the huts to give one coat but I'd like to give a second coat so I tried ordering more from Benjamin Moore. Dicontinued; I'm hoplessly colour blind so I asked my wife to choose a near colour; CLOVER GREEN 2034-10 Discontinued; next choice SAGE 2143-10 Discontinued; now rapidly ageing one coat will do and I'm painting the handrails in gloss black; the air con packed in on the car so I emailed the main dealer to book it in for repair; no reply after waiting a day; I then phoned the same main dealer having to leave a call back; no call back; I can't even spend money. The car can wait now until next year because in a few days we could be under water.

Wasn't it in "Brewster's Millions" movie where a huge iceberg was towed making unwanted $M's.

Give it a couple of weeks or less and we might see lots of floods again.

                      Kind regards, Colin.

We went over to Perth this morning, had to take two grandsons to St. Johnstone's ground for footie training, when we set out I noticed the wind has changed direction. When we left Perth it was 27 degrees, when we arrived home the Harr has rolled in off the sea and it was 16 degrees, looks like we might get some sleep tonight for a change, not sure if the tomatoes will appreciate the change.

Warmest we got today, even with clear blue skies, was 21°C. Like burnie, I can see the haar rolling up the Forth so tomorrow morning will be a nippy one.

I think it touched 32c here but we still have that breeze, its dropping now, the breeze that is and the temperature.
TBH I'm getting quite used to it now and anything below 28 to 30 just seems not worth a mention.
