      Snap !

We haven't got much weather this morning, it isn't actually 'doing' anything - no sun, no rain, no wind, no frost, no snow ..........

I was reading earlier about areas of the west Midlands and Cheshire @Retired , and the dreadful problems they've had there with flooding, which has been happening on a regular basis. You couldn't make it up. I know lots of areas had higher rainfall over the last year than they were used to, which can cause problems. It seems we'll have to get used to more extremes of weather, and more unpredictable spells of it too.
I think we're reasonably good up here at coping with flooding, but the landscape varies so much from east to west, which makes a big difference. East is flatter with shallower, wider rivers, so flooding can be more prevalent, especially in late winter/early spring with snowmelt. East is drier than west though, which also makes a difference.
North has had plenty of snow in recent weeks, but it's a normal feature of winter, so most areas are well prepared for it. We're not getting anything like the amounts of snow nowadays, or as regularly as in the past. Plenty of chilly stuff though, which doesn't bother me, and is easier to deal with when out and about. Much better than that rain - we get more than enough of that!

Yes, that is so true. In the last two hours we went completely overcast and had a brief but good shower. now we are back to blue with puffy white cloud, calm and 12c.

Heavy rain yesterday evening and overnight - 50mm in the gauge since Saturday evening, (including Saturday night/Sunday's snow - I didn't go out to empty it yesterday).

Now it's brighter (but still cloudy) with a bit of breeze. Most of the snow has gone, there are just a few bits on the garden and a pile in front of my car where it slid off the bonnet at some point yesterday.

It is 22f -5c and the guessers say it will get colder and the wind chill will make us feel like it is 2f -15c . And cloudy all day. Another good day to stay inside as much as I can.

Rain yesterday evening then turned to snow at midnight. Not as much snow as yesterday it is slowly melting it 1-2C outside now. I've been out with the snow shovel and cleared paths before they freeze, looks like the snow will be here all week. Rescued the euphoria again.

Strange day, 10c at 8am with heavy rain, then gradually went down to 2c. The rain has stopped and we have a bit of sun but it's still very cold, 4c now.
