A little more snow early this morning but it's been sunny for most of the day, 3C/37F.

I watched a woman parked outside a neighbours house earlier. Knowing that the snow has been turning to ice, she was using a scraper on the roof of her car. I don't think that's going to do the paintwork much good.

Has been a very cold day, all day, even though we had sunshine it barely got above freezing.

        Good morning weather team.
Just for the records, we got a bit of snow yesterday when it was dark.
It's currently between -1c. They expect the frost between 7 and 10 AM today.
It should be sunny with up to 3c.

We are entering this week the stage when the sun will raise earlier per day from Sunday on.
        Sunrise Today: 08:10
        Sunset Today: 16:18

A look into the forecast shows that there are 2 opinions:
        BBC/weather.com:
        Next week will be warmer

        Windy.com/Wetteronline:
The cold will continue even it's not that much as this week and it will be warmer the week after next week.

I take what I get but it's always a bit work to get the tree fern wrapped. If it stays cold, I would leave it. I will check the forecast over the weekend.

We had wet snow yesterday evening and some still lingering on the grass but it's just wet on the paths.
                      Temperature plus 1c .
Still cloudy but due to clear.

It’s minus something and icy by the looks of it. It’s that shiny ice, not white and frosty- so that can catch people out.

Sun is forecast so hopefully it will melt some of the ice (until tonight’s re-freeze).

                          Hi,

What a wonderful start today. Car so frozen I couldn't open the driver door so managed to pull the passenger door open worried about damaging the door seals; knock the car out of gear and lean over to insert the ignition key; not good enough; the clutch pedal needs depressing so with big boots on struggle to get into the drivers seat and depress the clutch.

I was enjoying myself so much I couldn't find my garage keys so was locked out unable to collect the ice scraper so just sit in the car until it defrosted itself and me. So this morning it took about the same time to drive away as it would to have fired up a steam car.

                          Driving to Morrison's the car was displaying -7C yet the weather forecast guessed;

                          upload_2025-1-9_8-16-40.png

It didn't just feel like 7C the car confirmed it was 7C but the car could be wrong after all it was sitting outside unlike the weather forecasters sitting in their warm offices.

When it breaks daylight I play the game of finding the garage key. In Morrison's I did buy a new ice scraper and a can of de-icer; these will be regular passengers in future.

You can't beat a hot mug of decaf tea on days like this.

I fully agree @Tidemark and also lots of broken bones too.

                          Keep warm and safe.

I can't decide whether there's been snow overnight or if it's frost. Very white, very cold, -2c expected. Also sunny spells are forecast but they said that yesterday and it didn't happen ....

:yay: We had 8mm of rain yesterday over the several hour period of drizzle. This morning we have clear skies, the sun will be popping out shortly, it is calm and 11c going to mid/high teens.
