The all-morning rain finally found us with force at 2pm and between then and 4pm we received 14mm, then the sun came out for the rest off the day.

We are starting today with the sun a, light breeze and 13c going to high teens.

Dry at the moment, but drizzle coming along later. The temps will steadily rise from 2c now to 14c overnight and tomorrow. The downside is that rain and wind will return once again.

February has been very dry here and there have been several wild fires on these hills over the past few days - that's never been known at this time of year, it's usually too wet for the grass to burn.
It's raining this morning but it isn't going to last.

Grey again, but not as cold as it has been and there's a little bit of breeze, so the washing's going out shortly.

Frost again, now it's 4c. Not as sunny as yesterday but still acceptable.

Did have a light rain shower but now it's just light cloud and a gentle breeze from the south east temp 5c feels like 3c

It is much warmer this morning 10f -12c and lots of clouds so these milder temps might hang in for the day ;)

Grey and damp but a tad ‘warmer’. Just.

"Two earthquakes recorded near Silves this morning

                      Editor 19 February 2025
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) recorded two small earthquakes in the early hours of this Wednesday morning, one with a magnitude of 2.8 the other 2.9 on the Richter scale.

Both had their epicentres around 20 kilometres northeast of Silves, the first earthquake was recorded at the stations of the Continent Seismic Network, at 03:11 (magnitude 2.8 Richter), and the second at 03:12 (magnitude 2.9 Richter).

According to the IPMA, there have been no rports from the public that the earthquakes were felt.

On Monday, an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale was recorded at 1:24 pm, with its epicentre approximately 14 kilometres southwest of Seixal, in Setúbal and this was felt with maximum intensity in Sintra (Lisbon) and Almada (Setúbal), and with less intensity in some Central and Algarve areas.

A day later, on Tuesday, the IPMA recorded two aftershocks of the earthquake on Monday, predicting that more could be recorded in the next few days.

According to seismologist Paulo Alves, the 'aftershocks' that occurred on Tuesday, the first measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale, at 10:30, and the second measuring 1.8, at 11:34, are “earthquakes very close to the main earthquake”, which occurred “on the edges of the main earthquake which occured on Monday”.

Paulo Alves explained that aftershocks, “are normally one degree less than the main earthquake”."

Nothing felt here. Currently sunny, 18c but feeling much cooler with a sharp breeze.

A half decent day with some sunny spells at the start and finish with a cloudy spell around midday, but it stayed dry and was a bit milder at 8c max in the afternoon.

According to the Met Office and the BBC, we have had clear skies and some sunshine. According to our observations, and the local webcams, we have had rain almost all day, and low cloud. I’d be a bit more understanding, but we are only ten miles from the Met Office HQ, and I’m sure the view out of their windows can’t be that different from ours?
