In quite a lot of springs I find Scotland fairs better than down this corner of the country, we often get easterlies which bring cold miserable weather with heavy cloud cover.
Its usually caused by Anticyclones up over Scandinavia feeding cold air across the North sea, which then become South Westerlies over Scotland.

Not quite the normal set up this year, but we still have N.E winds down here.

Yep the 4pm clear up, totally cloudy all day with drizzle from time to time, the sun is now appearing, why this happens is a mystery to me.

It is so cold here in the wind that I had to put on a fleece lined lumberjack shirt just to go down to see the chooks and check my seedlings. This northerly, Arctic blast will be with us till Thursday. I do hope it's not interfering with the pollinators on my apples!

What does tuna casserole consist of apart from tuna?
                  Is that fresh tuna.
Surely you dont put the TV in it.

Good morning everybody. Nothing new, the same as yesterday. It might or might not rain on the morning but if it rains, it isn't much rain. Cloudy all day.
6C currently and 12C expected later.
Looking into the next week, the Azores High is located more towards America than Europe and that means we get more Lows and that means rain and colder weather.
Looking at the NAO in the past, May could be the same as April.

Indeed @hailbopp - the east side is the 'dry' side, but you've not been getting that in recent times, not over the last 9 months or so anyway. You're having what would be our normal weather for this side. Very different landscapes from west to east. I hope it improves for all the farmers, because that's the crop growing side, because of that, but it isn't looking great just now.
I find it very mild compared to past winters though, even with the accompanying winds. Still have over 40 frosts through the season, but it's been wetter because it's been mild, so very little snow, and that seems to be the new pattern. I'd much rather have frost and snow! Always keeps us on our toes though eh? ;)

1 degree was the o'night low, so a light frost. 2 degrees just now [7am] and a predicted high of around 10 or 11. Sun is out again, and only a slight breeze. Yesterday got to 15 briefly - a gorgeous day, and just light winds.

Absolutely fed up. I do not want to go outside and see the results of a massive frost last night. I grow dozens of Rhododendrons some of which were looking spectacular …….yesterday, their blooms will be ruined along with the later flowering Camellias and all the new growth on the Pieris will be a goner too. I always hope this won’t happen but it does some years. Not all gloom as I have dozens of Rhododendron and Azaleas which flower later so still have those to look forward to but very ANNOYING:wallbanging:
