It was sunny but now the clouds are coming over. A gentle breeze from the south west temp 12c feels like 11c.

Yes, we are having an eclipse party:)

It is a bit warmer at 40f 4c and the wind is gusting wildly. The guessers say it is going to rain today and tomorrow then turn to snow on Thursday. That works for me. I want the grass seed to germinate before planting out time in May :fingers crossed:

As I just said to my colleagues in Ottawa, don’t try to record it with the phone but just observe how colors desaturate. Amazing :)

@simone_in_wiltshire your Ottawa people are pretty far out of the path of totality. I hope they get as good a view as they can from there. We've got all of the viewing glasses ready and I've got things set up for "bleacher" style seating on my deck.

The guessers weren't wrong :hate-shocked: The winds are really moving the trees about now!

It's dry again... whoopee. I don't know what it is, but this is not north, those in Scotland are north. But for England where I used to live is north...

Your spreadsheet is very impressive @JennyJB - I just keep a small notebook for recording!
                  I looked at my figures:
                  2023
                  Jan 172 mm
                  Feb 78.5 mm
                  March 137 mm
I'd noted that Feb was much drier - but it was therefore icier/frostier/snowier. Still much milder than previous years.
                  2024
                  Jan 176.5 mm
                  Feb 143 mm
                  March 139 mm
Again - very very mild here, so rain rather than snow/ice, especially Feb.

I didn't get the gauge until Late April '22, but it'll be interesting to see what the figs are through this year.

This morning I opened the windows - there wasn't a cloud in sight, and the breeze was so warm!! But by 11a.m. it was cloudy and cold, again. It's been raining steadily for a couple of hours. I'm bored of it now.

Dry with peeps of sun on the way into work: raining and very grey on the way home. This seems to be pattern at the moment. It’s a recipe for an absolute fail if you make the mistake of putting washing out. That pursuit is like something from a game show at this time of year!
