Mild enough for my little overwintered things to be outside without cover.

But ... too wet for my little overwintered things to be out there without cover.

    *sighs*

There’s not a day in the upcoming ‘10 day forecast’ that doesn’t have a rain symbol :cry3:

The forecast is rain for most of the day, but the sun is coming out. Only 16c indoors and 10c in the greenhouse. The CH is not going on. The only plant I have removed from the GH is my pitcher plant. It is frost hardy, but the pot is not. I think the weather could be OK just chilly.

Song thrush singing away all morning yesterday. Usually heralds rain. Then it came in the afternoon and so far this morning hasn't stopped. Feels cold so have lit the fire for the first time in ages.

Last night was supposed to be cold and dry. Today cool and dry with a shower around midday.

Instead, I was woken up by heavy rain at 4am and read for a couple of hours. Woke up again at 9:30 and still raining. So much for the 0.5mm! Who measures taht amount? We've had about 2cm.

Cold to so here we are at the endo f April with my thermal vest and ski socks dug out again and a scarf on indoors. Humph!

Similar story here....forecast heavy showers and thunderstorms which haven't yet materialised but no mention of the howling easterly gale which has. I cancelled a trip to a lovely plant fair on the strength of their 'forecast' :gaah:

Cold, even inside the greenhouse it is only 13°C, cloudy, little breeze and wet from overnight rain.

It rained quite heavily in Dordogne last night. We are on an orange alert for thunderstorms this afternoon.

Cloudy but bright today, with a breeze drying the bedding and towels.

Apparently it rained all day yesterday, and there was 8mm in the gauge when I checked it this morning. I was fairly late getting home - I had a long stop at Hidcote on my way home from a work trip in sunny Wiltshire. It always manages to surprise me how much further on the gardens seem to be down in the gentle(r) down-south climate .
Anyway, the weather on my travels was better than I expected, mostly sunny at Hidcote and sheltered on a south-facing slope with lots of hedges, so even though the air temp. was cool it felt very pleasant. That rain at home was quite localised, I could see the cloud sitting above as I approached on the motorway. Best of both worlds, fine for me, rain for the garden :dbgrtmb:.

Going by that old adage about oak before ash we're in for a confused summer regarding rainfall. The younger ash trees and the bigger of the two old ones all leafed up at the same time as the oaks in our boundary tree and hedge line but one big ash tree is slower. It has not previously shown signs of ash dieback and is right next to the other.

                          Ash trees, what are they?
They just cut them down over here, same response to disease as foot and mouth.
                          Covid was different though.;)
