We have tropical zero degrees and bits of blue sky, no sign of any thawing yet
taken yesterday, edge of village towards the coast.

After -2C last night, it's a lovely, sunny day with a light SE breeze. Max only 6C but it feels warmer in the sun :) The rain returns tomorrow, doubling the temperature but adding to the flooding currently causing problems near the rivers.

We had rain in the early hours of Saturday morning which turned the roads, pavements and carparks into ice rinks. Had a dusting of snow on the fells, which looks lovely especially when it only snows there.

              Hi,

0.2C at the moment; 2:41pm and so dark I wonder if we're in for some snow. I'm about to wander down to the workshop and ignore the weather.

              Kind regards, Colin.

Looking at Facebook it looks like the lake district had a decent amount of snow, some of the photos that are circulating below.

It was drizzling first thing this morning but more or less stopped for a couple of hours before the rain started again. It's been raining for a couple of hours & heavier too. It's expected to continue for a long time still. Temps at present 4C but not going any higher. Practically no wind. But it is coming from the ESE.

I don't think we had any snow here at 2am this morning as forecast on 2 weather sites yesterday but if we did I wasn't up to check on the weather forecast! :heehee:

                            Hi,

I wandered down to the workshop this afternoon thinking it could snow it was so dark and cold.

Freezing conditions; no problem just ignore it and enjoy a bit of quality time doing something useful.

Vintage Howard Bulldog petrol rotavator bought in scrap condition as a restoration project many months ago. Note fan heater on floor.

                            3 Dec 2023_0004.JPG
The new muffler could do with an elbow but it will work fine as seen. This afternoon I was delighted to see the engine come together at last but with little bits to complete it like spark plug lead and petrol pipe. I like restoring old machines in winter rather than sitting around indoors complaining about the weather. With the fan heater switched on I soon forgot how cold it is outside as I worked at peace with the world.

I need to carry the engine up to the garden hut and attach it to the restored chassis unit but at the moment it's too cold to be doing such work in a garden hut where it's dark most of the day.

I'm looking forward to using this rotavating the meadows once it's completed and the temperature hit's an heady 10C. Off topic but the sort of thing I do when the weather is bad.

Yes it's snowing so the snow shovel is now ready for action.

                            Kind regards, Colin.

The temperatures here are not usually this low in early December and more likely from late December through to February. -11C/12F between 6- 7am, this is generally the coldest part of the day here in winter.

Another cloudless, sunny and frosty day. Top temp. -2C/28F

Had 2-3 inch of snow last night, it rained and then turned back to snow again in the afternoon. Hopefully rain forecast tomorrow will see the rest off
