    We may have had a heavy shower during the morning while I was in another town a few miles from here as after I got back to Huntingdon I had to go to the PO & a couple of other places before starting the 20 min walk back home. I saw no rain while in town but as I left the centre to walk home I saw big puddles all over the place. I asked my wife but she doesn't know if we had a heavy shower while I was out. With the curtains closed all day & talking on the phone for an hour or more she couldn't see outside.

    I noticed that the Great River Ouse that flows through Huntingdon was at the top of its banks this morning! With a little more rain it will burst its banks! Not that that's a worry because there is lots of room to soak up the flood waters. In the 23 years we have been back here I've not seen the river flood the streets in town! Though our son did tell us once last year that the ring road, part of which runs alongside the river, was flooded in one place.

    Anyway it didn't rain any more here till gone 5pm when we had some rain. It was forecast to be heavy but I don't think it was. It's raining very lightly at 8pm. We are forecast a cloudy night with temps around 6-7C all night.

      Hi,

      Been bucketing down for hours; will the garden ever dry out long enough to put the plants in; this afternoon I dumped the plants in the garden sick of seeing them in the extension; I hope they can swim at least I don't need to water them; I'll eventually plant them but it might be next July? It's been a black hole every bit of today; it's definitely the Yorkshire I love.

      It doesn't stop me doing things; I've just put a mixed fruit cake in the oven to cheer tomorrow up. :biggrin:

      Kind regards, Colin.

            Hi,

            Another day; same old thing;

            upload_2023-12-8_5-59-26.png
            Perhaps I should rename the plants I bought from J Parker's to RICE then I can plant them. GRRRR.

            Since around 4pm on Wednesday it's been night time and still is; yesterday daylight was canceled it being a black miserable hole all day. Not raining at the moment but not for long at least it feels a bit warmer.

            Hospital appointment at 8:10 this morning and visiting a former neighbour later so I can forget about gardening or the dire weather.

            I'm just happy to still be here to enjoy all this pleasure; :biggrin:

            Kind regards, Colin.

                    @Retired even if you had rice plants you still couldn't plant them at the moment, you'd need to wait till spring and even then your area would be too cold for rice.
