Whats Your Weather Like December 2024

It’s such a mixture of weather this weekend it’s hard to sum up. Basically- a bit of this and that, and not very warm.

When is the winter solstice? The shortest day

 

It just started raining and looking at the radar, it will rain until lunch time.

The solstice is at 9.21 am this morning. That's it.
It's a wet start here, and the wind hasn't really got going yet. O'night low was 5 degrees, and it's 8 just now at approx. 8.00am. Glad I'm not on any of our islands as the winds are to reach 80mph. Ours are to be high 50s and possibly 60mph here. A mix of rain or showers, depending on which forecast is right. The high is to be around 9 degrees, and it's to drop all through the day, with hail/sleet tonight along with the wind.

Yesterday was wet until later on. Dry for a few hours in the afternoon before rain coming back in. Breezy all day, stronger at times and a high of 7 degrees.

 

Just started raining, looks like a fairly narrow band of heavy rain followed by drizzle.

Now it's light rain and a gentle breeze from the south west temp 8c feels like 6c

 

Sun is up and bright. It is only 6c but there is a fresh NE breeze, Going to mid teens and sunny all day.

 

It's up and down like a yo-yo here. After a gloriously sunny day yesterday with a chilly 0C start, another wet, windy but relatively mild day today. 13C.

 

A bit grim at the moment, but getting better with a bit of everything.

Awful tomorrow with up to 50mph north westerlies and it will feel like 0c.

 

Good morning all, a dry day but strong winds ,cloudy 11c.

 

After a mostly dry day yesterday, rain came in the evening. Ground is still wet but it's not actually raining now. Though the Solstice has passed the Sunrise continues to be a little later for a while. I've always found this a bit confusing even though I've read explanations of it.

 

We're in for strong winds later on, a yellow warning, but currently it's calm, dry and cloudy. 11c.

 

A bit brighter today, and breezy with it. Not very warm though! The met office says it's 11C but it doesn't feel like it.

Towels are blowing on the line, and I might just get outside and do something christmas decoration-y with the big bunch of variegated holly that my friend brought the other day. The reality is I'll probably just stuff some in a vase with some greenery from my garden!.

 

We have rain and possibly sleet in the forecast overnight tonight/early hours tomorrow, then cool, bright and breezy which suits me because there's more washing to do before the next batch of visitors arrive on Monday afternoon.
