I forgot all about this thread...

I've just started a bit of a tracker as I live with a couple of ladies who have never experienced living anywhere except in the shadow of Heathrow and seem to think that the likes of Scotland never has any good weather. Although I am not quite at retirement age yet, it is creeping up on me and I am hell bent that I do not want to be spending my retirement around here, so want to track the weather differences to show how different (or not) a few places are over the course of a year:

    upload_2024-12-31_7-51-17.png

It may expand to more places and I already think I need to expand to add in monthly (or four weekly) averages, as well as perhaps adding in wind speeds...

Another wet windy start here. O'night low was 7 degrees [8 just now at approx. 8.15 am] with a predicted high of about 9 or 10. It's supposed to clear up a bit later on , with the winds dropping to a more common 40 mph speeds, rather than the plus 50s. More stuff coming in overnight again, but it's debateable about the predicted snow for tomorrow here. Plenty of that further north for the coming days, and it's currently looking like we'll get some later in the week anyway.
Thought I'd better empty the rain gauge when I came back from taking daughter to work, as it would have been overflowing if I'd waited till it got light. 38mm since I emptied it yesterday at half eight.

Yesterday was wet all day, apart from a drier spell in the afternoon. The high was 9 degrees, but the winds will have knocked that back.

I see bits of blue through the cloud cover. It is calm, 8c going to 16/17c with sun and cloud for our last day of this year..

Gloomy here though I can see some patches of blue sky in the distance. It doesn't seem windy when you look at the trees but the dark clouds are scudding along quite fast. Glad I made the most of the good weather yesterday. Looks like a lot of the New Year outdoor celebrations will be cancelled tonight.

Breezy and quite bright this morning, still fairly mild (10C) but noticeably cooler than yesterday.

The forecast has it starting to rain around teatime and continuing all evening and night. Hopefully that will keep the noisy parties indoors :fingers crossed:

Wild wet and windy here and 10 degrees, not sure if we are getting the snow tonight or not. Have a Happy Hogmanay one and all.

It's just starting to clear up here, although still blowing a hoolie/hooley, so I might get my walk now in reasonably dry conditions.

Stay safe everyone - whatever your weather is doing for the foreseeable. :dbgrtmb:

It is 28f -2c and the guessers are saying that these beautiful blue skies will fill with snow clouds and we're going to get a mixture of precipitation because the temperature is going to float around the freezing mark. I've got my shovel ready and I've got some Christmas blubber I need to work off, so come on snow!

For your record @Fat Controller we've had a fantastic autumn up here in the Highlands and surprisingly November was almost completely dry and sunny. However, the whole of December has been a different story. Almost non-stop rain with the occasional gale thrown in.
