What's your weather like January 2024

It was a bit chilly overnight but now we have warmed up to 18f -8c. The guessers say we'll be getting a bit of sunshine here and there and I do hope they have it right as the batteries are needing a boost!

 

nice sunny day supposed to be -2c daytime . Snow melted a bit over the past few days but froze again its like a skating ring out there . Unsuccessful attempt to get in the Greenhouse

 

A lovely blue sky and 5c NW in the sun.... sat on n the garden bench for 10 minutes soaking up the Vitamin D....

Sun just about to dip below the houses opposite out the back.
A miserable +2c max today with a bit of a wind blowing.
Not a cloud in the sky all day.

Looking like another cold night to come.

 

Not got over zero all day, nipped into Montrose for bird food and essentials from the chemist, main roads cleared and gritted but the side roads are a bit of a skating rink.

 

Boy came in drenched so I towelled him down and he went to sleep on my lap. Rain stopped and Boy has gone out again ... should be in for dinner at 6ish when the rain supposedly starts again. 16,5c and 99% humidity.

 

-1c all day, nice and sunny but may have a cold one tonight of -10c

 

We had another beautifully sunny day again today! Though even in the sun, with the NW wind, it was quite cold. We probably didn't get above 2C all day. But I love to see the transparent skies in deep blue without the slightest hint of milkiness which remind me of the many years I spent in Spain. During the prolonged periods of winter weather the days were like this! But it was very, very cold. Not the sort of temps you might imagine in Spain, -10C was a nightly occurrence & we thought nothing of it!

 

Heavy snow showers continued today @CanadianLori but not much shovelling here as my drive and paths are gravel. Top temperature -1C/30F. My daughter in British Columbia has 3ft of snow.

A very dodgy drive to Inverness and back (a 28 mile round trip) to shop as the cupboards were bare. The first half mile of my single track road is all up hill and I was dreading meeting another vehicle coming down. If I'd stopped there's no way I'd have got going again. It would have meant backing all the way down and starting again. I carry a spade in the car but it's no use over that length of road. If I'd left it an hour later I wouldn't have got home.

 

Wow @Sheal , that's tricky driving!

B.C.is getting punished. The sad part is the hummingbirds are dying from the unusual cold

-7c in the shade and car say -11c in the open air, yes a hard frost last night, can see the orange glow coming up

 

Once again we start another day with temperatures below freezing! It's not quite as cold as yesterday at minus 3C but it's still very cold! We expect another very sunny day with wall to wall sunshine unbroken all day. No rain or snow is expected. Winds will continue to be light and from the NNW so we will have to wrap up warm still, that is until Sunday when we expect a mini heatwave, temps are forecast to reach 10C or more! Be time to throw off the winter clothes and put the summer ones on again!
