I took out 70l from the two water butts to fill it into the 50 and 20 l butts. Let’s see how much will fill up over night. Forecast is 20l per sqm. Rain started an hour ago.

Good morning, it had rained but not that much that it was worth to have a warning. The two greenhouse butts got only around 15l each.

The rain's to come later on for us so I'll get outdoor jobs done before that.
It's a bright, dry start here with light clouds. O'night low was 10 degrees [12 just now at approx. 7.45 am] with a predicted high of about 15, which will be this morning, as it's to drop considerably with the wind/rain later.

Yesterday turned out very warm with a high of 20 degrees, and a nice breeze. Ideal for my outdoor painting/attaching planks job.

@JennyJB - I keep a notebook with the rainfall, and the general weather through the day, so we can be totally sad together! It's useful to look back at the different conditions over each year though.

Yesterday felt pretty warm when the sun came out, and only a light breeze. It hadn't started raining by midnight but it looks well set in for the morning now, and squinting at the gauge through the window I can see that it's got a decent amount in there already, somewhere around 15-20mm, so I'm guessing probably about an inch of rain by the time it stops/eases off which is forecast to be lunchtime (sorry to mix units - my gauge is in mm but I think in inches).

Guildford: we had around 5mm rain yesterday and with all the previous rainy days it's amounted to a couple on inches. But it's still dry under the soil surface. Was pulling up weeds yesterday and the thistle roots are dry further down.

Today: it's dry, not so cold as previous nights with a low of 13C. Temperature at the moment is 18c with heavy rain coming soon.

I find that on our sandy soil at least, during the spring/summer growing season little-but-often rain doesn't properly wet the soil. Either the plants suck it all straight up, or it evaporates before it can percolate down, or maybe some of each. A few mm makes things feel fresher but doesn't really do anything much beyond that. I could do with rain like today's, once a week, every week :).
