What's Your Weather Like July 2024

Sun is everywhere today even up here in Newark-onTrent . Just watered our sons hanging baskets good deed done for today , just off to Cromer for a weeks holiday . Gosh no gardening for a week !!!

 

Hot here and heavy. Set to get to 34C but fee hotter and thunder expected tho not with any rain to clear the air. Windows closed, shutters down to keep the house as cool as possible. Indoor jobs for me apart from checking on chooks (they lay late) and watering pots.

The sooner we get some rain and I can weed beds for new plants the better - fewer pots to water!

 

Unless one of my gardening friends here could pop down to our bungalow in Wales to water OUR hanging baskets and maybe check our Toms, cucumber , Chilli plants and Chrysanthemums are happy in the Greenhiuse ! much appreciated .

 

29c in the shade, no clouds or breeze.

 

It never cooled down below 72f 20c last night and we started the day with extremely high humidity. The guessers say we are going up to the 90'sF 30'sC again today. I will be driving most of the day and we all know that it is easier to control comfort levels in air conditioned vehicles than in a house with central air. Air balancing in private homes cannot match small space/vehicle cooling and the second floor tends to be quite a few degrees hotter than the main floor because the thermostat is usually on the main. The cellar however is lovely and cool but I don't care to hang out down there because there is no gardening to do there!

 

All sunny now, the dust has cleared, 28.6c but an awful 79% humidity and not much air movement.

 

I never use the air con in the car, well I don't think it works anyway, mostly because I never used it.

 

28c outside, 27.5c inside. Should I buy ice cream?

 

Sunny intervals and a gentle breeze from the south south west temp 14c feels like 15c.

 

It touched 30c here on my mercury thermometer, my sensor always reads higher.
Its still 26c now.

28 ish again driving home. Pleasant outside in shade now though - thermometer reading 25.

 

Hottest place in U.K. today was Kew Gardens, apparently.

 

High of 32,2c at five and six o'clock, now 31,2c with a hint of a breeze.

 

Just opened my bedroom window, its 28c up there, could be a warm night.
