Honestly Upsy, if the heat lingers 24/7 with the night low being 26c, it doesn't encourage one to sit out in it!

Sounds like the reverse of our experience here in the last horrible cold winter, we had to coup up indoors to keep warm, miserable.

You have some beautiful shady areas though Vicky, unfortunately we don't have that many as we need all the light we can get in Winter!!

I like my home. It is dark and cool with 60cm/24in walls internally and externally and the lounge window looks out at a Carob tree and white Plumbago hangsing over a 2 meter wall on the lane. I don't feel shut in as it is all open plan with 5 meter ceiling. Except the kitchen/diner which is big and bright and white. Plus a/c helps. We go out in the morning and sit and potter for an hour and again between 5-7 before dinner. It is too stifling outside otherwise ... I like to breathe easy.

True ... but the high temps are shade temps! Imagine what it's like on the Dining Patio and The Courtyard! That is why we disposed of The Upper Deck!

22C on the shaded patio at the moment with a delightful southerly breeze blowing in .
Gonna be a lot hotter in a couple of hours once the sun comes round ,

Mad dogs and English men comes to mind.
Most people who are used to high temperatures tend to hide away until it cools down.
We don't get enough warmth most of the time so tend to make the most of it.
At least I'm not burning gas trying to keep warm.

Bet there are/will be a lot of red bodies on the beaches ... Brits as the Germans/Dutch/etc seem to be a bit more sensible.

At 10.30am here we are 28c in the shade/32c in direct sun ... just doing a test today. ;)

It has just gone 11 a.m. and I've come in from tying in runner beans. I told them that they'll get a lovely drink tonight and they waved at me - or, I suppose, it could have been the breeze blowing. :heehee:

There is no breeze reaching the main garden and the thermometer, in permanent shad, is already showing 30C. Time to put aircon on when our guests arrive and the solar panels, with the help of the sun, should keep us cool. :)

Just put a thermometer ( normally used to check winter greenhouse temps) out in the open a few minutes ago. Our garden is pretty open to the elements ..already reached 20230625_111913.jpg .

                          Shaded patio 28C.

It doesn't bear thinking about that there are individuals who lie out in the full sun (on beaches. patios, gardens. wherever) in such temps, even for hours on end.

Note I did not say "people" as that infers humans! :rolleyespink:
