It's supposed to be sunny intervals but it's thick cloud and a gentle breeze from the north east temp 11c feels like 10c, doesn't feel very warm at the moment.

"Drought levels still not deemed bad enough to limit private water usage

Even given the current drought situation experienced mainly in the south Portugal, the minister of the environment and climate action, Duarte Cordeiro, has for the time being ruled out prohibitive measures regarding water consumption, such as for swimming pools, lawn irrigation, etc.

The meteorological drought situation worsened in mainland Portugal in April, with 89% of mainland territory in drought, 34% of which in severe and extreme drought, according to the national meteorological institute, IPMA. Just over 40% of the south of the country is in drought."

"Young Spanish meteorologist says the ants predict rain in May

There has been no 'rain' for many weeks in several Spanish territories, just as it has been here. But a young Spanish meteorologist has predicted that May will see some much needed rain in the Iberian Peninsula, according to 'the movements of ants'.

Jorge Rey, passionate about the subject of meteorology, published a video on Youtube channel predicting a change in the weather, thanks to the ant movements he has observed.

Animals are sensitive to climate changes, especially ants, which can detect subtle atmospheric changes with their antennae. Ants move their nests to a higher altitude or with build different materials when it is going to rain.

Ant prediction is a traditional, unscientific method based on observation that has been used for many years, and according to his observations Jorge predicts that within a few days, “Atlantic storms will come to the Iberian Peninsula”. The rain will come to “end the drought”.

The situation of meteorological drought worsened in mainland Portugal in April, with 89% of the mainland in drought, 34% of which in severe and extreme drought, according to the IPMA.

In one month, the dry area in mainland Portugal almost doubled compared to March, when it was 48%.

April was the 4th hottest April since 1931 (the hottest was in 1945), with three heat waves recorded in mainland Portugal, which affected the interior regions of North and Centre, Tagus valley, Alentejo and Eastern Algarve.

Lets all hope that the ants have got it right, and Jorge's predictions come true, bringing our countries the arrival of rain that they so urgently need."

Finally a dry day and a clear blue sky. 11 degrees apparently but feels warmer of course in the sun. So many jobs I'm catching up on out there and am loving the fact that finally I can!

Today it is very cloudy with a strong, cold wind. It's 8C out there but feels more like 5C in the wind. Fortunately we have been working in a sheltered part of the garden and the combination of shelter, three layers and hard work :phew: we have kept warm.

It's forecast sunny this afternoon and very sunny tomorrow.

Strong northerly wind and the sun is trying hard to break through but its cold out there.
The thermometer says 16c but it feels a lot colder than that

Well it took a long time and there was always some cloud to get in the way of the sun but it reached 18C on the wall.
It was a good day for this year, it would have been very average any time in the last 5 springs.
