After a night of very clear skies we have a temperature of 41F. There is a slight breeze, the sky is very blue and the sun is coming up over the horizon. :sunny:

It looks set for a very sunny day.

Yesterday was wet, wet, wet and it rained nearly all night. But to today it's fab again, with the sun sparkling on the sea. I'm not missing the snow!!

It's such a lovely day that I have decided to remove a brick gatepost that I was putting off until spring. It's 3ft square and 5ft high. The last time I took one down I did it by hand (chisel and club hammer) and found a 6" diameter concrete pillar inside with a 1.5" diameter vertical iron rod through it. I had to get a friend in with a cutter to finish it off. Nowadays I don't think I could even use the chisel and club hammer so my friend is coming in with power tools.

Just get Gcc3663 to hit it with his lorry Shiney:D

Brilliant sunshine here too, although a chilling wind coming off the sea.

Trying to patch the holes in the greenhouse before the 80mph winds send it sailing to Shineyland.

Well!!! He spent an hour with his hammer drill and only managed to remove 12 bricks. The mortar is so hard he's having difficulty cutting into it. So he shall contact a friend of his whom he thinks has a lorry with a hoist which should be able to lift it as the base is loose.

My Weather Station is reading an outside temperature of 42f but it feels a lot colder than that when taking a walk around the garden. My first Snowdrops are just starting to flower and there's a lot more other shoots bursting through the soil. We have clear blue skies, a cold breeze here in West Cheshire with, if the Met is right, wind and rain in large quantities for at least the next 24 hours.:help::D

        Blimey,

Woken up at 5am, caravan rocking all over the place, bits of trees & pigeons hitting it.

Bamboo fence I put up yesterday shredded, bits of polycarbonate flapping about on the greenhouse, fence panels smashed to bits.

Once again travel chaos in Scotland and umpteen roads closed. Forth and Tay bridges closed. Locally, wind at present (10:08) gusting over 60mph.
Can't recollect a winter with so many periods of gales.

It's lovely now, but a bit late. Took Aggie down to the beach. Horizontal rain and hail and a wind you could lean against (at least force 9 although they had gusts up to 11 at Dover).

Should waited to take her out. AND my macaroons hae stcuk to the silicon paper!

Horrible drive home, floods, manhole covers popping, torrential rain, wheelie bins & recycling boxes all over the road.

Bit better now, still blustery though.
