I didn't get to bed until late [early:scratch:] at around 1.45am. The wind was very little, until I snuggled into bed and then I heard the first rustles followed by the roaring and howling of the storm.:what: It's a great feeling to be warm and snug in bed listening to the wind and the rain beating against the windows.:D I eventually dropped off to sleep and woke up to find the wind was down to a stiff breeze with clear blue skies. This afternoon the clouds appeared from the West but so far we've had no further rain. No damage outside in the garden, even my tall bird table was still standing. It's now 7.30pm and the outside temperature is 42f.

Rained all morning here, then about noon it absolutely threw it down, rain and hail accompanied by squally winds for about 10 minutes.
Finally began to clear towards dusk, some interesting cloud formations as the back end of the front passed over.
As the light was fading, I managed to get this shot of a strange, gloomy sky from my back garden with the camera on a low light setting:

          What a day
          Greenhouse shredded
Old ladies house over the road all the ridge tiles gone, and three large holes in her roof,
Mr angry down the road, I advised him his new ALPHA ROMEO private plate needed moved, Asked what business is it of mine, So I just said well none but it is parked under a chimney stack that has started to fall :heehee:

About 100yards away is the wooded walk through 60' Scots pines
three have sheared off at the 20' mark, and two others are uprooted

This storm was worse than the 8th December red warning one we had

Quiet since 1500 so fingers crossed, though at 2100 it is starting to blow a bit

You really have had a battering up there Jack. Hope all is well now.

Gales last night and all today here, with more to come. The wind here has been almost continuous for the last three months and when it drops it seems eerie, not used to it.

Our 25ft carport has been taking a battering and the cross beams are now lifting with the wind, so some running repairs will have to be done until spring. A decision then as to whether it will have to come down.

No boats sailing again probably for the rest of the week, and mail didn't come in by plane today, now that is unusual.

Well, if you don't decide, Sheal, it sounds like the wind will do it for you:D:heehee::what:

            Thankfully you survived it Jack:dbgrtmb:
Right now the wind has eased a bit but if the forecast is anything to go by we're in for it again today but apparently without the rain....

Lots of rain over the last few days, very strong winds yesterday, with gale force gusts last night and yesterday afternoon. Thankfully everything, including my recently erected "blow-away" greenhouse has survived (I must have done a good job re-inforcing that :D), just got a bit felt on the shed roof to tack down again, but that's it thankfully....fingers crossed that was the worst of it...

That sounds as though you had it quite rough, Jack.

We had the strong winds yesterday and there were a number of large trees across the roads but no damage in our garden.

I've been doing some tidying up in the garden this morning and it's quite a pleasant day. 43F, light breeze and sunny but it looks as though the clouds are coming along.

After a reasonable day it's gone down hill tonight, strong winds again and heavy persistant rain from around 4.30pm to now, just stopped!!!.....

The day has been wet and breezy but now, at 10pm, the wind has picked up and as it's coming from the Northwest it's striking the front of the house so you can hear things clicking and creaking. The outside temperature is 46f.
