Most of the day it has been clear blue skies with the clouds racing by....pleasant but a tad chilly.....

The ditches around here are a soggy mess....obviously in Shineyland it really is very dry.....the poor trees must be suffering:(

A very mild day by January standards.
Its a long time since I can remember getting mild and dry winter days, the two dont normally go together.

A bit breezy here but not bad, was able to get a decent bonfire going this evening, just enough wind, but not too much.

Monday the start of the week day

    Evening all,
Well it's monday and the weather first, dry, mild, and a day its good to be alive sort of day, (not that ive ever died ) But as i took the dogs for their morning walkies i couldnt help but think what a smashing view across acre after acre of fields,
I see this view every day and i never get fed up with it But having said that it changes as fast as nature wants it too.

But like the title say's Monday is the start of the week for a lot of people and i dont want to bring any doom and gloom to anyone "But give those who are getting ready or near to retirment a little bit of a "look forward" to that last day of work.
Ive worked in all sorts of jobs from leaving school at 15, shift work, Nights, distance work, and i must say i thought i'd miss going to work when retirment came!

Now i wonder we're i had the time to go to work and when the weather lets me i work long hours just gardening and i love it (I dont think of it as work)

But i do remember the feeling of "Monday morning" going into work and counting the days until friday came along,
I did have my own alloment and the very worse thing to upset me was when saturday morning came along and i got up at 6am just to go to the allotment (i use to cook my breakfast there) and it was pouring down.

It just didnt seem right some how that it should rain or snow on saturdays or sundays.

So if your near and counting the days until you finish work? Take it from me its great really great having the time to yourself.:phew:

Loli, yes, the trees have been suffering very badly. Even our giant willow was noticing the lack of water. It normally clings on to its leaves until mid-Jan but had shed them all by mid-Dec - and that's with it also getting the benfit of the soakaway from our cesspit. Although we have been watering throughout autumn and winter we aren't able to help all the trees. I'm concerned about an old and lovely Japanese Acer that is 10ft high and almost the same wide. It dropped all its leaves by October, which is when it is normally in blazing colour. It's had a few sessions of the hose being left on at its base for six hours at a time but I'm not sure it will survive.

today we have been forecast heavy rain but it's not in sight yet.

    Ghostly misty morn eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Evening all,
very misty morning here today, but still better than rain,
I had a walk around the garden (coffee in hand) and to see what nature has to show and the bulbs are really showing their heads now,

This is the thing about gardening! You buy the bulbs you plant them and hey pressto your all surprised when they show their heads.

    (who's fooling who??)

Well! The rain never arrived :cry3:. It's been damp out there all day but couldn't even be called drizzle. Just a mellow mistiness.

      Let's hope for more tomorrow.

This is the Acer I'm concerned about. This year it went from sparse green leaves straight to brown and having dropped them by the time of year these photos were taken the other year.

        Is it lucky??

        Evening all,
Weather here today, just a perfect mild almost spring day, so much so i thought i'd give the car a wash and shine, the beautiy of living in the countryside with only the wild life as neighbours is that you can have the radio on as loud as you like & thats just what i did, when i'd finished i decided to tidy up inside the back small workshop,
as i walked away from the clean and polished car i glanced over my shoulder and thought that looks nice.

3 hours later and i got the call "tea-up" her indoors had made a pot of tea and a few scones, i walked passed the car and again glanced over my shoulder only to see "Bird calling cards all over the windscreen and roof of the polished car.

I was informed that it was a sign of good luck! (how can anyone come up with such daft ideas as to think that mess is good luck??:heehee:

The only lucky thing is that i dont get my hands on tweety:scratch:

Started raining just after dark last night and rained all night by the looks of it, it's stopped now though :D

Was very mild here yesterday, lots of birds singing away at dusk, sounded like spring even though we're not quite there yet :D
