After a dull, cold start with a few flurries of powdery snow this morning, it brightened up this afternoon but got even colder.
For the first time this winter, the lazy wind has arrived.

    Hi Mcammocklashinh,

Great to talk to you, ref the wood here for the fire,/ log burner's
Just about all land id owned by someone and the way to get your wood is to (1) buy a small woods "land here is cheap" hence i bought what was my neighbours late husbands allotment, it was and still is well back to nature but when she asked my to buy it nearly 3 years ago now i had to buy it then knowing i had this place to knock into shape first, plus the garden thats part of the house 2acre,
My neighbour didnt want to continue paying the 30euro land rate on the old allotment, so it was as you can see a case of buy it for the future and next year it will be full time allotment time.

Now back to the firewood (2) we have a huge wood yard about 5 miles away you can buy dried or whats called wet wood of them,

    (3) the locals who have woods/forest will sell you the right to go and clear the trees from their woods/forest and then its up to you to store it dry it and use it and this is what i do, it will need chain saw, trailer, log splitting machine, and the will to go out and do the work "but " it's a lot cheaper in the long run.

We bought are old farm house here and moved to france 6 years ago last september, it had'nt been lived in for 25 years and needed making back into a home again but a bit more modern here and there, it was the location we liked and the views are just breath taking (and free)

The best thing we ever did was to move here but its not easy moving to a new country and starting again ref the home making but we've done it and its like life was 50 years ago in so many ways.

Like a pure white cotton sheet

      Evening All,
Well the greating from mother nature as i opened the shutters was a pure white garden to look at,
It had snowed last night and we've got about 2inch of the stuff.

Once i'd got sorted and down the stairs the dogs gave their normal bright greeting and i let them out and headed for the bird churn of seed once the feeder was full and as i was getting the dogs breakfast ready i glanced out of the kitchen window and the bird feeder was full and the old cherry tree had the next customer's waiting in line (a lovely sight)

I did say i was logging today but as the snow started and continued all day im glad i just did the walkies (twice) and spent most of the day in the work shop checking the geraniums and doing a bit of this and a bit of that.

It's a sure sign your getting older when you spend all day in the shed and can't really justify what you've done all day,
that and looking for the viagra when shopping:heehee:.

Have you noticed how silent it seems when snow has fallen?
I was walking back to the house about 5-30pm tonight and it was just starting to dim as the evening was getting closer the dogs all walked heads down and gave that feeling they to wanted to get indoors,
I could see the house all lit up and smell our woodburner burning away
(that smell of oak logs) and the crunch crunch as we walked through the snow, It seemed louder than it should or was it because the snow covered views also gave that silent view and the birds also didnt make a sound,

It's nice to close the door on the winter no matter if you've just come home from school or dads just come in from work there is something special about the snowy scene and the near end to the day.

Pretty cold but only a very slight frost. Not a hint of a breeze and the sun is coming out to play :sunny:.

They're already talking about a possible drought order in London in the summer and they've had a lot more rain than us.

More of the white stuff and then same again!

        Morning all,
Well its snowed again last night "only a dusting" but nothing's moved,

Talking about moving ive been at the looking through the bathroom window again and as was yesterday the lawn's looking ghostly but a bit like one of the scene's from an old western movie,
do you remember the large ball of dried out grass rolling across the street "no a soul in sight" except a pair of legs and a wagon wheel across the street? a half hidden face under a large hat, the badly rolled home made treetreetree and the music that said it all (Yep i guess its half day closing around here)

Well looking out of the window this morning watching the dust like snow blowing across the lawn is our wild west scene, and to think people go swimming across lakes in weather like this:scratch:

But due to a change of plans ive been given the task of doing some painting, yes the lounge cieling and guess what colour?????????????

"White" brilliant white to be correct, so ive the white stuff outside and more coming out of the tin and onto the cieling inside.

But you must keep your spirits up, i did try a knock knock joke on (her in doors) this morning it went like this'

I said knock knock, And she replied "Come in"

ahh well she never did see the funny side of life.

Well it's 9-15am here in france and it's that time of the day "WALKIES TIME" and so i'll finsh this coffee and take the dogs for a slip down the lane and so until the same time tomorrow ref this thread,

Have a nice day and dont forget to take your towel with you if your going skinny shivering:yess:

Shiney most of the world gets a lot more rain than you.
Have you thought of moving, it might help.:D
        Us that is.

Its taters here, but not as cold as it can get, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it dont get any worse, although the forecast for Feb is not good temperature wise.
