Yesterday started cold but quite quickly warmed up, reaching 13.6 degrees in the hazy sunshine in the afternoon, not a bad day in the end :) . The temperature quickly fell away after dusk and its currently 1 degree and there's ice on the car again, Mother Nature is such a tease  ; still not a proper full blown frost :snork:

We're forecast several hours of light to moderate rain today :frown: ...we'll see :heehee:

A tiny border of frost on some rooves but a bright blue sky now and very still. Barometer's back to a respectable place. Maybe in for a couple of nice days. Clear some more borders on the sunny patio side,

First frost of the winter this morning, and quite a heavy one too; remained chilly all day (temp only just managed to hit 10 degrees this afternoon, but still felt a lot colder in the breeze); so far tonight it doesn't seem as cold as yesterday.

Yesterday the rain arrived as promised, about 4 hours of light rain......at least it brought some milder air in, the temperature topped 10.6 degrees..

Not cold last night with the cloud cover and its already 7.2 degrees, dry and still cloudy this morning :)

I've just been silly enough to pop out to the freezer in the outhouse, wearing only a pair of shorts - suffice to say, my nipples are now causing offence!

Goes to show - you shouldn't have your freezer in the outhouse! :heehee:

Actually, a freezer doesn't work efficiently if it is in a place where the temperature drops below 40F (approx 5C).

We bought the freezer when we lived in the last house, so it was in the kitchen there - however, when we moved here the kitchen is much smaller but we have the benefit of an outhouse/utility room; when we moved in, this was a bare brick built shed with electrical supply, water supply and drainage, but that was it - so, we insulated it, plaster boarded it out, installed a couple of kitchen cupboard units and a couple of work surfaces (one only to stand the tumble drier above the washing machine) and some carpeting.

We then discovered, as shiney rightly points out, that our freezer would cease to work at temperatures below 5 degrees, and there was no way we were buying a new one as our one was only about a year old, so we have to have an oil filled radiator in there on very low just for the sake of the freezer.

There is the odd one available that will work fine in sub-zero temperatures, but there are few and far between - indeed, I think Beko were one of the only ones we found.
