    OK - me confused.com :dunno:

Temperature outside is currently 8.4 degrees, yet its felt colder this evening than it has over the last few nights, including Monday night when we had quite a heavy frost!

Yes Chester just down the road often finishes 2-3C below here on a clear night despite being only 10 miles away!

FC "Temperature outside is currently 8.4 degrees, yet its felt colder this evening than it has over the last few nights, including Monday night when we had quite a heavy frost!"

Similar thing here yesterday  ; it allegedly topped 13.1 degrees but it felt much colder than that in the afternoon, I know the breeze had something to do it with it but the air in general felt chilly too??, but I suppose the thermometer doesn't lie :heehee:

This morning is bright with well broken cloud and already 10.6 degrees...:)

    Show off!!! :heehee:

Apparently, and I can't remember the technical details of the explanation, that because of the way the thermostat and motor works the freezer gets confused about whether to switch on or off. It has difficulty in judging it accurately because of the low ambient temperature and tends to switch on and off a lot more frequently. This causes it to use up to 30% more power.

I remember reading a report quite some time ago that was produced in co-operation between, I think, the Consumer Association and the freezer manufacturers. As we don't keep our freezer in cold conditions I didn't really take a lot of notice of the details.

White cloud here, not much wind and I didn't need a coat in the garden this morning. Ooh, hang on ... the sun just winked on the garden!

Sun broke through in a BIG stunning fashion at 11.45am and stayed out all afternoon. Now the angle of sunlight has dipped, the lounge gets really hot and you almost need sunglasses on indoors.
      Bootiful
