    Cloudy today, the sun tried to break through but gave up, 12C. Our night and day temperatures seem to be pretty much the same at the moment.

    Was it here on GC a few months ago that someone said it would be a long harsh winter starting in November, or maybe I heard it elsewhere. Anyway, with the temperatures set to plummet at the end of this week, perhaps that prediction is going to come true. :sad:

    This was my prediction from the thread you were referring to Sheal (http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/lets-guess-the-winter-weather.46179/);

    "Briefly I think something along the lines of the following;

    September - warm start with equal amounts of dry and wet spells, cooling as the month ends to averages of low/mid-teens in celcius, on the whole a nice autumn.

    October - early in the month pretty unsettled, possibly with an autumn storm and similar temperatures to late Sep, first frost of the winter by the end of the month.

    November - starting cold and sunny but followed by rain/sleet/snow and unsettled weather.

    December - a mixed month of unsettled weather with snow and settled cold spells leaving us guessing about a white christmas

    January & February - similar and on the whole very cold and frosty with snow at times.

    March - starting cold but a mild spell of 'spring' like weather by the 2nd or 3rd week"

    So far not a bad guess :biggrin:

          Here in Berkshire, it's a dank,damp,and misty/foggy day. :noidea: Makes you hair all damp and frizzy(it does'nt matter what product I put on it) I look silly in a hat !:eeew:

          But what else do we expect, yeah, we could be somewhere hot(been there, done that), but I still prefer it here. :yes:

          I was in Manchester again today and it was very grey and depressing. Driving out of there makes me feel so much better!!! My neighbour says it has been grey, grey and grey, with no rain or drizzle and just a little breeze. At 6.35pm the outside temperature is 55f.:coffee:

          barometer's risen quite a bit over the last couple of days so I think it will be dry for a while. Once it gets into a North East wind stream - look out! Things in the borders will just collapse!

          Orrible here again today light drizzle all day no wind and visibility down to around 50 yards since Sunday.
          Typical autumn weather not cold though at 11'c. Forecast is for the fog not to go till Thursday

          So much for our forecast stating dry and bright for a week. It had rained on waking this morning and the weather has just hung all day. Grey skies and no wind to move them on. 12C all day and now 13C at 9.20pm.

              Dreich, but mild for now - 12 degrees, dull as ditch water, and a very light breeze.
