We've had gale force winds blowing here for 48 hours now and the constant noise is starting to get to me. Lunchtime it was trying to snow and this afternoon was sunny. Freezing in the wind. 2C

Isn't this what happened in the second phase of the winter of '62 ?:hate-shocked:

The warm air made a forward pass but was pushed up by the cold air and rained cold death down thru the freezing layer.

Wasn't it '63 Zigs? I can't remember how it happened, just remember the snow for weeks on end and the cold of course!

        Hi Sheal,
The bad weather actually started in '62. I was leaving the country for South Africa, from Southampton, on 10th Dec and the snow started that morning. :blue thumb:

By New Year's Eve all flights had been stopped and the last Channel ferry sailed that evening.

This morning we have some lovely sunshine and blue skies.

Manchester was cold and grey again with some sunshine between the buildings today and it was cold. Back home it's dark outside :sofa: and the temperature is 33f.:coffee:

I agree with Shiney ... it was 62/63 (it rolled over) and was the last year I was in school in Luton and had to walk to school in about a foot of it ... NEVER AGAIN! :heehee:

That would be about right regarding the year, because I spent some freezing cold days digging out sheep from snowdrifts when in the rif raf to help the farmers out.:hate-shocked:

Thanks all for the correction. :)

A beautiful sunny, crisp day today and the wind has finally reduced to a strong breeze but still blooming cold!

Not a bad day at least it was dry. Cold wind though dried everything up. Only got to 3'c but felt colder in the wind.

A cold grey day here in West Cheshire with a breeze that made it even colder, we also had light showers every now and then. The temperature is 35f:coffee:

We were forecast snow for last night but it didn't arrive - not too bad a day today and at least it feels good to be going home from work and it's light. Went straight outside and started sorting some pots out - what a dismal sight they all look.

Cold(ish) but partly sunny and dry, max 7c, hardly any wind unlike yesterday.
