    It's mild (56F) but eerily still out there. No sight or sound of birds, planes or cars and not a breath of a breeze. It's been like that for a couple of hours now.

    For some reason it has reminded me of the first verse of a poem:-

    NOT a drum was heard, not a funeral note,
    As his corpse to the rampart we hurried;
    Not a soldier discharged his farewell shot
    O'er the grave where our hero we buried.

        Wind is approaching gale force here with showers driven on it, dismal! Temperature is down to a chilly 12C and feeling colder in the wind.

              Was lovely, if not cool Morning, has grown increasingly cloudy this afternoon. Wind has picked up significantly, and it started to rain about 4pm, quite a heavy shower for 20 mins or so. Now just the odd burst, but quite heavy when it does. A very cool 14C at the moment. (with the wind chill feels about 10C)

              It topped out at 69F (20.5C) at 2.30 but has been dropping fairly rapidly since then. Now, at 5.30, it's 55F (12.8C).

              5.7ºC this morning in the garden (according to the max/min I left out) and it's normally 2ºC lower at my edge of village plot so I'm glad I covered my tomatoes last night.
