Although it has been sunny all day the main lawn is still frosty as the sun can't get past the trees. The big willow hasn't dropped its leaves and is blocking the view.

0'C today but nice and sunny feel quite pleasant in the sunshine . Might have a bit more snow tomorrow. Typically the boiler broke down last Thursday, a friend of mine has looked at it needs some seals but nothing materialised yet ( memory like a sieve ), its mighty cold first thing in the morning before I can get log burner going .

I can report that the heated blanket is excellent! Charlie the cat was chuffed too! I’ve just changed the bedroom curtains to the Winter ones, so that should be cosier tonight.

Take care those who need to go out in the icy weather.

Our cat was also a Charlie, called after Charlie Chaplin. When we moved into our flat in December 2015, we hadn’t realised that the heating wasn’t working, until Christmas Day. In January when the temperatures really dropped, and we had 8c inside, I had used at least 3 hot water bottles under the duvet and slept with hat and fleece jackets. I had to be careful when going to bed because Charlie was sleeping with her belly on one of the hot water bottles under the duvet. She was such a brave girl not to lose faith and hope that there will come warmer days again.
On January 21, almost one month later, a glorious company installed a new boiler and our Charlie slept 12 hours by the heating on her basket and didn’t get up once.
If it’s really cold, I give my street cat a hot water bottle and he sleeps all night on it. He is the first street cat with own house heated in winter.

Another cold day with the snow still on the ground.

It will be -4c tonight and only 2c tomorrow with sunny intervals.

My records show that we last had snow in November in 2021.

The GH is holding up well at 3c at the moment, but it is a lean-to against house bricks. Some tender plants and cuttings are in there.

On Saturday it will be gales and heavy rain. Not much to look forward to.

It was -5C when I got home last night. Forecast is that it is not going to go above freezing and I need a new ice scraper :rolleyespink:. I had to use it three times yesterday. They don't make things as well as they used to as I've only had it for twelve years.

Squirrels are raiding the sunflower seed feeders early.

We used to use CD cases if the scrapers died on us @shiney! I don't think it's advisable though :heehee:
You can get ones which are combined with a furry mitten. Not sure how effective they are though.
It's another frosty/icy start here with an o'night low of minus 5 , but 0 degrees just now at approx. 7.50 am, as some cloud has come in. The forecasts all vary, from dry/sunny until later afternoon, to snow on and off. It'll be a mix, I expect. Quite breezy too. The nearby road's well frosted anyway.

Yesterday was frosty all day. Lovely and sunny though, so very pleasant when out of the breeze, which became stronger in the afternoon. The high was 3 degrees.
