Everything's battened down just in case Ciaran passes further south than anticipated. We're in for a wet and rather windy night, and then five days of torrential rain, but at least it's mild at 17C / 10C.

Wet and windy. We are supposed to get a lull in the early hours before it picks up again a bit later.

My eyesight is such that I can't read most of what's on the 'picture' forecasts that are posted. So sorry, I have no idea of wind speeds etc. but gather it's getting rough down south. Look after yourselves everyone!

Up here it's back to the norm after two sunny days. Dark, wet, breezy and now cold as well, 2C/36F. I expect to see snow on higher ground tomorrow while I'm out.

The barometer has fallen significantly in the last hour or so.

Yesterday we had several showers, about 8am we had a very heavy one, fortunately it didn't last more than 5 minutes! Rest of the day was mostly cloudy but with occasional sunny spells.

I heard the rain beating on the bedroom window during the night but I didn't really wake up until 4am. For the next hour I heard the rain, heavy at times, hitting the window but when I got up at 5am it was barely spitting. When I left the house at 6am it was still spitting.

It's not raining at present here nor is there much wind but that is expected to change during the day.

Temps this morning started out quite low at about 7-8C but we expect a max of around 10-22C.

Well what's going on?? Everything is quiet and still .

Just heard the national news and Southampton were mention 3 times....one major road in is closed because of flooding, the Itchen Bridge is closed because of the high winds and there are no departures from the airport.

Not a leaf is stirring on the trees and the sun is visible. The winds we were suppose to have with us all day have been reduced in both their strength and hours too. So feeling much happier now about having to travel into the city to attend my hospital appointment. :phew:

It's been a very rough night I think we are in the lull atm, still windy but not as bad as during the night..
I think it will have a kick in it's tail as it starts to move away.
Raining fairly heavily 20mm up till now.
