After a short heavy shower we are now dry, overcast and quite breezy, we are currently 12 degrees and rising nowhere

32mm in the gauge in the last 24 hours, bringing my September total to 82.5mm. That's about the same as last September, but a lot more than the long-term averages which are low 50s.
Looks set to continue for most of today too - the soil will be nicely replenished and just maybe I'll be able to do some autumn planting, lawn scarifying etc in the coming weeks.

Well moments after I posted that it was bright and sunny, the black clouds rolled in. Still managed to get in a good hour in the garden before the drizzle started.

As forecast - persisting down all morning so far and maybe all afternoon.

This September was the wettest for 35 years in this region. Fine by me as we have some catching up to do on water reserves. Just wish - selfish I know - that it would rain on the days when I'm not free to garden. Such a lot of weeding and planting to catch up on.

Set to be cold on Friday morning so i'll have to bring in the two big ficus houseplants and my hibiscus rosa-sinensis once they've dried out. Summer hols are over for them.

It's still dry here but not sure for how long, looking at the radar the forecast yesterday and even this morning are well wrong.
Much more heavy rain in the midlands than they said and further west.

Rainfall here for Sept was 107mm which is pretty high.
Normal seems to be around or slightly below 50mm. In 2016 it was only 15mm.
                So it can vary widely.
The result of the so called south shifted jet stream.

Sunday evening till this morning has been awful it didn't stop bit of flooding about nothing to dramatic I suppose one of the pros of living on the side of a hill. The River Irwell starts here I believe it bust it banks down in Greater Manchester region. Did have a bit of a reprieve this morning for a couple of hours bit back to more rain / drizzle .
