What's your Weather Like October 2024

A damp cloudy start, but clearing by about 8am. O'night low was 9 degrees [9 just now at approx. 8.35am] with a predicted high of about 13 or 14. It's to be decent day, with some sun, but the worst is to come tomorrow and into Monday with the high winds and heavy rain.

Yesterday was pretty dire, although dry for a while in the morning and early afternoon ,with some wind/rain late morning, just before I got home. It deteriorated by later afternoon with some very strong winds and rain, and continued all evening. The high was 14 briefly, but that will have been knocked back a bit with the gale force gusts.

No damage in the garden, or to the house - no roof tiles off like earlier in the year, so hopefully it will all be fine over the next couple of days too, although it's to be much windier. I did go and move a large pot of sweet peas and tied them to the back fence. The other pot at the back door came adrift from it's wires attached to the railings, so that was sorted too.

 

I heard heavy rain at times overnight but this morning is clear, dry and sunny. Autumn walk planned so it should be a lovely day for it (albeit soggy underfoot).

 

Brightly overcast, a fresh 14c, calm, going to 23c.

 

Another inch of rain overnight, very wet underfoot, but the sun is shining and day is supposed to be dry. Currently 12°C, 16°C later.

 

Still raining, but it should be full sun by late afternoon. And then it gets dark.

Tomorrow is rain all day and we are due just a 1 hour burst of strong winds.

I expect the oak trees will dump their leaves - the golf course has already had 2 leaf blowers out. It's every day now and early morning. I just get the rake out.

Feels mild although just 12c.

11 degrees, calm and overcast, stormy winds forecast for tomorrow though.

 

10.5mm rain in the gauge this morning. It was raining when I got home yesterday evening but I think most of it was overnight/early this morning.

It was lovely and sunny "down south" (southwest really) but clearly there's been a lot of rain. I took a detour on the way home to visit the Picton gardens near Malvern and was quite surprised by the amount of standing water around in the low-lying areas below the Malvern hills.

 

It is 39f 3.5C and the skies are clear. The guessers say we're in for a really nice day because we're going up into the 60'sF 15C or so. What a bonus!!

 

Our morning monsoon passed on by ... and it has turned out frabjous! About 18 degrees, blue sky as far as the eye can see, warm sunshine, and only a very slight breeze. Lovely!

 

The early rain, 4mm, turned into drizzle that just went on and on, it wasn't until early afternoon before it cleared and the sun came out.
