What's your Weather Like October 2024

Strong winds here tonight. I can lots of rumblings and noise outside but all clear, so far, in the garden. The poor Rowan tree is getting a vigorous blowing from side to side.

 

We're still on a switchback between severe damp and Indian summer. 24C /12C and wall-to-wall sunshine today

Wet start here again, but the at least the wind's slowed a good bit. O'night low was 8 degrees, [ 8 just now at approx. 7.25 am] although that may lower further as the light comes in. The predicted high is around 12, and it's to be a mix of everything, but with winds at a more normal of high 30s to low 40s. Once it's light in about 20 mins, I'll see what damage there is, and check the rain gauge.

Yesterday was fairly hideous, but not as bad as further north and west from me. Had to move various pots as they were getting cowped. The high was 14 degrees, but winds were high 50s into 60s, so the real feel would have been a bit lower. It dried up for a while- from about 11.30 until mid afternoon though, and was very pleasant for my walk. Those windspeeds are fine when you're in a built up area, but not so good in open ground or on exposed ridges!

Well! After all of the dire weather warnings etc. yesterday turned out to be a lovely day! Rather breezy it is true but sunny, dry and pleasant. The storm missed us for once. My sister on the Isle of Wight had an awful day.
This morning is very still, grey and overcast but still fairly mild.

S.E. Wales . Paths around our bungalow are dry so No rain list night but piles and piles of Leaves blown over from next door ! Birch, Cherry , Rowan and next it will be Oak . Oh well keeps us fit and we have bags and bags of Leaves for composting , a win win I suppose . 12c and No rain for the day forecast .
