What's your Weather Like October 2024

It’s easier than you think. If you have an aquarium with a size of 1x1x1 meter and it rains in September so much that this aquarium is full, then you have 100l rain.

Here is that in inches and more.

 

Surely that's a 1000ltrs of water, one cubic metre.

I've always gone on the assumption that its the depth of water that would land in a straight sided container, so in inches or mm it comes out the same and the size of the container has no bearing, the normal rain gauges that you buy are not straight sided but that is allowed for in the graduations, so narrow at the bottom to make smaller amounts easier to measure.

 

It’s not counted in the height but per square meter. It’s like “I have 6 tons of sand on 1 sqm” or “I have 6 tons of sand on 10 sqm”. It’s still 6 tons.
My greenhouse is 3 sqm roof and it collected 600l rain in just 4 days. But we had another 200l approximately the 2 weeks before.

It's been raining again after a dry day yesterday.

Frosty start here. O'night low was 2 degrees [still 2 just now at approx. 7.45 am] with a predicted high of about 13 or 14 again, as it's to be sunny all day. Should be very nice to sit for a while.

Yesterday was mainly cloudy, but with some sun in the morning, a wee bit of dampness for a very short while, and then more cloud, but sunny from mid afternoon. A good breeze for the washing, and ahigh of 14 degrees for a while. Lovely.

The way the rainfall is measured isn't that way though @simone_in_wiltshire.
If you get one of the little rain gauges, it'll give you a better idea of your rainfall. I chekc mine each morning, and just keep note of it. It's very useful. You also have to remember that it depends where the measuring of any weather is done. Our nearest monitors are in a very different location to where I am, so it helps to check a few different sites to get a decent idea.

Nice day here for us it’s sunny and 6c can hear and see the birds ducking and diving through the trees! Happy days .
