We certainly got a few hours of rain on Friday! Quite heavy it seemed at times as well! Saturday was dry but a lot cooler & very cloudy but no rain. I don't think we saw the sun at all during Saturday. I had to go downtown to do some shopping & take some photos of the bedding displays being changed over from the summer display to the winter/spring display. I don't remember having seen any sun while I was out.

Today couldn't be more different - what we haven't seen today is clouds!!! :heehee: We have had wall-to-wall sunshine from sun up to sundown! I seem to remember there was a while when we did had some clouds & I said to my wife when she commented on them that we weren't forecast rain today only sunshine. The clouds must have soon cleared away as I only seem to remember the sunshine!

We had to put the heating on this weekend, earlier than we would have liked but we have no choice as temps drop very quickly when it's cold outside. Boy has it been cold today! We began the day on 4C & s-l-o-w-l-y crept up to about 10C at the highest! Back down to 6C now! We expect to get down to only 2C at 6am! I don't know if we will see the first frost of this autumn but it is generally around this time when we get one & then go for weeks without getting another! The trouble is we also lose all the summer flowers that were hanging on & while we wait for the end of winter when the first spring bulbs start to flower we have 6 months with hardly a flower in sight!

Tomorrow is forecast to be pretty cloudy again & the cold theme will persist a few days more.

Good morning everyone Several times in the last few days I've commented on the above average temps we had been having, well today I'll talk about the exact opposite, lower temps than average as that is what we have this morning! The Met Office weather app says we have just 3C at 5.45am this morning! This is the coldest day yet of autumn 2023!

We expect clouds all day but we may see a few sunny intervals as well. No rain is forecast for today though. There will be very light winds that will be all over the place!

Max temps at least will be higher than yesterday's at 11C. So it doesn't look like a bad day, all in all.

Sunday was similar to Saturday with a bit of frost in the morning and sun all day. In the windy parts of the garden it was pretty cold but otherwise quite pleasant.

The funny thing is the indoor temperature. The heating switched itself on just after 4 a.m. for 15 minutes only to take the slight chill off the air and then clicked off. It came back on just after 7 a.m. for about 10 minutes and then stayed off all day. As it was bright sun all day and our lounge has a south facing wall that is almost all glass (patio doors and side panels) it reached 81F (27C).

A similar thing has started this morning and we have both a ground frost and an air frost. Cars, roof and grass are white. As it isn't sunrise yet I don't know whether the sun is going to wake up today.

Dropped to zero overnight, 3.5c in the heated greenhouse so I'll tweak the thermostat up a touch. I brought the chillies onto the patio next to a south facing wall and covered with fleece, they went down to 4.5c

Dead calm now, cloudy 3c heading to 12 later.

Well after getting our first snow of the season on the hills, we have had the fire lit in the evenings this weekend, it's only 4 degrees outside and there's a skin of ice on the garden pond, suns out so it looks like a nice day in prospect.
