We've got freezing rain atm and wind chill of god knows what. I am just in the door having been making sure our equine is ok unlike the poor wee soul in Simon's photo which admittedly looks a fairly native/hairy /hardy breed unlike ours. Ours has 2 rugs, a big bowl of food and 2 hay nets plus has a field shelter. Jesss he will need it tonight. Here's hoping the rain doesn't turn to snow which makes our lives somewhat tricky having long driveways and no snow plough to clear them:rolleyespink:

This morning started off cold, around 28f, and then "warmed up" to 30f. The chief fact of the day has, of course, been the wind and the garden Weather Station recorded up to 37mph gusts with average wind speeds of around 12 to 15mph. The Gable End path leading from the garden to the 8' high garden gate became a wind tunnel due to the Southeasterly direction of the winds and one of my empty 800 liter plastic compost bins was blown down the path nearly to the gate, but no damage was done. I did expect a fair amount of rain but we've only had 3.3mm of rain fall so far.........but I'm not complaining.:heehee: Right now the winds have dropped to around 5mph, there's only a few drops of rain now and then, the temperature is 39f and the pressure reading is 974hpa.:coffee::snorky:

Started raining at 10am but no freezing rain. Heavy in the afternoon, now it's dry.

We were promised a blizzard up here today. No snow, no wind to speak of but wet and miserable. I'd rather have had the snow. 2C/36F

So another "storm " fails to show up despite all the weather people getting their knickers in a bunch over it.
Yellow warnings for freezing rain, black ice, and snow. "Stay indoors " they said.
I saw one joker on bbc1 today emphasizing its really cold today ?

Really? Its meant to be cold its winter time its mid December for god sake.

The only Snowflakes I saw today were the ones in the tv studios, again.

One day a proper storm will arrive and people will die because no one will be listening to the warnings anymore.

                    Cry Wolf.

Hopefully a better day than yesterday, although the heavy rain is suppose to return this afternoon.

Yes it is amazing just how wrong they get the forecast at times. Most of the predicted guesswork should have gone now as they use Satellite data and sophisticated tracking to monitor the weather situation nowadays.

Still what would us Brits do if we couldn't moan about our weather!!:dbgrtmb:

Yesterday was 36F most of the day with mainly drizzle and a little rain and a fair breeze. The dampness made it feel colder than the day before which was sunny and didn't rise above 34F.

This morning we have a warm 33F with not even a hint of a breeze and we are basking in bright sunshine.
