Morning Woo and all.

Yesterday although we had no end of heavy rain showers it was at least warm and the rain did give the plants a goo old water something that needed to be done. Last night seemed a little cold had to pop the heating on a while...another sign of growing old Lol.:D

Today is nice, dry and not cold although I think the forecast is for another nice warm day although some showers again....not great I must admit and I do hope we don't have another summer like last year as June is only a stones throw away and it was June that brought all the floods in our area, soo not good!

Cookie I'm sure we will met up sooner of later on our early morning haunts!:thumb:Hel.xxx.

:)We had rain showers off and on yesterday though I managed to get over to the lottie to plant out some of my indoor sown broad beans:thumb:

Had rain after I got home and it carried on for the whole of the evening and overnight. At least it watered my pot plants and filled up the water butt:)

Piddling down all night Still raining but we should get bright skies later. CM just saw your yesterday's post. I will post you a picture when the willow settles in and does something. It is still small (after all it was only £1.99) and only has buds.

Cookie The eta Aquarid meteor shower peaks this year on Saturday, May 5th, and Sunday, 6th. The best time to look, no matter where you live, is during the hours immediately before sunrise. If you can, get away from city lights; you will see more meteors from the dark countryside.
2008 is expected to be a good year for the eta Aquarid meteors. The Moon is new, which means no lunar glare, and Earth is expected to pass through an unusually dense region of comet dust, driving meteor rates as high as 70 per hour in the southern hemisphere. We should see some in the northern hemisphere but not as many.
Just another interesting event on Saturn if you think our weather is bad
Amateur astronomers photographing Saturn this week have found something unexpected two rather large storms
They're little more than smudges in a view through a backyard telescope, but each one is a continent-sized tempest with wind speeds as high as 1000 mph. Saturn's storms are white because their cloudtops are filled with ammonia ice crystals they sometimes crackle with powerful lightning that radio receivers onboard the Cassini spacecraft have recorded on many occasions:eek: they would stop you going in the garden.

Thanks Sarra - would like to see your willow when it starts to do it's thing!

Nutty - one for the diary! Ta chuck! How nice to go up onto the moors just before dawn and watch this and then watch the sunrise afterwards. Not too sure James will be persuaded on this one though! There is a particular tor on Dartmoor called Combestone Tor which is easily accessible by car and yet amazingly is incredibly remote and a very high vantage point for all directions.

http://www.legendarydartmoor.co.uk/combe_stone.htm

Seems a good place to watch and listen to the music of the spheres from!

I love the description of Saturn's storms - what I wouldn't give for a close up view of one in full raging tempest! I am not into astrology too much but being a January Capricorn baby I am always pleased to hear anything about Saturn, my ruling planet!
Saturn ([IMG]) is the ruling planet of Capricorn and, traditionally, Aquarius. In Roman mythology Saturn was the god of agriculture founder of civilisations and of social order and conformity. The glyph is most often seen as scythe-like but it is primarily known as the "crescent below the cross", whereas Jupiter's glyph is the "crescent above the cross". The famous rings of the planet Saturn that enclose and surround it, reflect this principle of man's limitations. Saturn takes 29.5 years to orbit the sun, spending about 2.46 years in each sign of the zodiac.
Astrologically Saturn is associated with the principles of limitation, restrictions, boundaries, practicality and reality, crystallizing and structures. Saturn governs ambition, career, authority and hierarchy, and conforming social structures. It concerns a person's sense of duty, discipline and responsibility, and their physical and emotional endurance during hardships. Saturn is also considered to represent the part of a person concerned with long-term planning. The Return of Saturn (Saturn return) is said to mark significant events in each person's life. According to the first-century poet Manilius, Saturn is sad, morose, and cold and is the greater malefic. In medicine Saturn presides over the skeletal system, skin, teeth, gall bladder spleen and vagus nerve. Saturn symbolised processes and things which were dry and extremely cold, and was therefore inimical to life. It governed the melancholic humour.
Before the discovery of Uranus, Saturn was universally regarded as the ruling planet of Aquarius. Many astrologers still use Saturn as the planetary ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius; in modern astrology it is accordingly the ruler of the 10th and 11th houses. Traditionally, however, Saturn was associated with the 1st and 8th houses (1st house = incarnation, 8th house = death; Saturn being the planet of mortality, and hence, why the Grim Reaper carries a scythe). Saturn was also said to 'joy' in the 12th house of self-undoing.
Saturn is associated with Saturday, which was named after the deity Saturn. Dante Alighieri associated Saturn with the liberal art of astronomia (astrology and astronomy).

So this probably explains why all me joints ache, I'm a miserable old sod with a morbid sense of humour, have been old before my time - even as a kiddie and have a fascination for all cultural incarnations of the Grim Reaper!

Nice!
