When to prune roses

    Thanks all. Im going for it this Friday then. Nowadays the only reliable gardening advice comes from this ere forum. Pete, Ive come across a lot of incorrect repetition, one example being how long to soak rose roots before planting. Pruners on standby....

      When you consider it was always thought camelias were tender and couldn't be grown outside, until WW1, you realise unless you try things for yourself you dont know what is true.

      Mine get shortened in Sept/Oct to reduce wind rock and then a proper prune between Dec and Mar on a dry, frost free and sunny day. Any later occurring frost/salt wind damage can be tidied up in spring.
      Christmas day is a good one if conditions are right, I also tend to do the soft fruit at the same time.
