      My Passat was a 140bhp, and that was more than enough - as you say the shove from the diesel torque was the thing that made it really quite quick.

      In truth, I don't think the A4 is 'just' as quick off the mark as the Passat was (but we are in hair splitting territory, and I was driving like an old woman on the way home yesterday) - however, the power delivery is much smoother and much more consistent (linear, I believe would be the best description);

      Whilst I don't want a slouch, I am not looking for the fastest thing going - creature comforts, safety and reliability are more important to me.

      I know one thing for sure - every time I turn a page in the book, I am learning that its got something else clever shoved up its sleeve.

      EDIT - I will try and get a couple of better pictures over the weekend, as that one was taken in a bit of a rush.

          Thanks loli :) - I feel like that has been locked in Toys 'R' Us this morning; I put in a bad night pain wise, so have been up since 4 reading the book of words, and keep finding more and more nice bits.

            Thanks Jack :)

            Not sure if I will chip it or not to be honest - its surprisingly quick now that I am getting used to it, and it just wafts along like a great big armchair, which is exactly what I want :) Its also remarkably nimble for such a big car (the electronic steering is a revelation in itself)

            Every time I get in it at the moment, I find more and more nice touches (hidden purse/wallet cubbies under the front seats, LED footwell courtesy lights, puddle lights under the doors, ambient overhead LED illumination....... I could go on and on)

            Yes, well worth the extra £9 a week that I am going to have to find - very happy man.

            PS - if anyone is looking for a car along the South Coast (Hampshire in particular), give Imperial a look, as so far our experience has been very positive.

              I found my car when my distant cousin came to help with some repairs on my old ford escort. I noticed his little fiesta and fell in love with it. I said to him if you ever decide to sell it let me know. Three years later he said he was ready to change it for another vehicle he was looking for and I jumped for it then and have been very happy with it since.
