I dont know about bees, but yesterday OH had an appointment at hospital in town, and while we were waiting for our lift home under some trees, we couldn't believe our eyes!!......hundreds of small pale green catapillars all over the wall. raillings and pavement. The last time I saw a spectical like that was many years ago when we had an invasion of ladybirds. I'm not usually scared of catterpillars but to see hundreds of them crawling around was quite creepy. Fantastic food for the baby birds though. 02

yes i know what you mean i went to a secluded beach spot with the college to look at the flora and the tutor said that there was a very rare native butterfly which only lives in this bay and feeds on a type of plantain and there were thousands of there caterpillars on all the plants we saw!

We noticed that that there was a tree that looked as though all the leaves had been eaten, but I am useless when it comes to naming trees. I'd love to know what tree it was, and why the caterpillars thrived on it. 02
