It's hardly "in the spot light" to put your nearest town. I have put Wakefield but actually live in a village a few miles south of there. As @Anthony Rogers says, even putting a county would be helpful when giving advice.

How do you find out your UK zone? I can't make sense of it and are they comparable to USA? I'm assuming I'd be on the lower level as I'm near the welsh whiskey place, big clue there..

I'm zone 6A - and as my location says, we're up to 30c or so in the summer, then down to -15 in the winter. A real roller coaster but does it compare to yours - hmmm, don't know.

But if it is the same, a zone added would certainly not compromise anyone's privacy because your zone 6a is 3000 miles away from my zone 6a.

Thanks @CanadianLori I noticed your temps, ours are not that extreme (Thank God) so don't think I'd be a 6.. As for comparing I meant, I have seen other sites stating "H's" with a number for the uk and numbers for US. And I'm not concerned for privacy, like @Jiffy said you could find my house from what I've put on here lol!!

Yes, I run a small business out of my home so it's pretty easy to find me too.

Maybe something like how I noted my hi-lo's and near water or something like that so that we're all on an even playing field?

Most of the UK is 8b but the areas around the west coast tend to be warmer and the north east and higher places cooler.

I usually do not give advice if I don't see the zone or location. Anyway, hey I don't care if I am found, you know us American's we all have guns.

Not really the appropriate thing to say at the moment Redstar in light of what's happened again in the last week or so there.

your right Sheal. Was thinking about the discussion in the "what Americans think of London" thread. BTW, not sure that sentence would have any appropriate timing as there is shooting everywhere in the world going on all the time, unfortunately, not due to the fault of guns but the sick humans who hold them.

Well, I finally got an antidote for some of my zone envy - someone who shall remain nameless twigged me on to the fact that some of you people in 8 only get 8 hours of sunlight on the shortest day of the year. :lolpt:

I get 9 - yes, a full hour extra to look at the icicles all round my home! :roflol:

I did that in the early days of me joining GC when Victoria asked for a id of a shrub growing near her house. I put in my thoughts on what it was and then realised that Victoria lived in Portugal:doh::heehee: Luckily, Victoria let me down gently!!:love30::heehee:
