Which fortunately my prepared base ... isn't!

A huge 'thank you' to everyone for all the information. I now know enough about cement, concrete, it's constitutent parts, coverage and cost to embark on a lecture tour and maybe earn enough to just 'get a man in' and do it for me - except that would be defeatist! I've designed and built a deck, laid paving stones, built a pergola, tiled walls, laid carpets, put up shelves (that are level and don't fall down!) and can paint and wallpaper with the best of 'em, so I'm kinda looking forward to mixing and laying a bit of concrete, because as my Gran used to say 'If a man can do it, it can't be that hard' :heehee:

Just as a BTW, on the subject of Wickes - anyone with a 'My Wickes' card may want to know (if they don't already) that they're stopping it within the next couple of weeks - too exensive to administer apparently. So if you've got points you want/need to redeem - now's the time.

So you've probably got one of those £5 off £25 vouchers they enclosed with the mailshot informing you of tghe impending demise of their scheme - we got two of them as we always go for multiples of any card that sends out stuff like that.

I had a similar job recently like this in my garden. Got some one in to do it in the end as I couldn't work out how much concrete I need in the end.

Be prepared for the concrete not matching the original colour of the path, so you will have a two tone effect. But you probably knew this already.

Oooooh - does it come on a nice colour chart? If I take a bit of the existing cement in, will they match it? Can I get a 'match-pot'? :loll: :loll:

Something that might be worth considering............

    'Barrowmix'

Try searching for it, their must be something similar to near to you, they are great! Phone them up with your dimensions and they'll give you a price over the phone.
Next thing, they'll turn up at yours with in their lorry and mix and barrow it wherever you want it!

    Job done!!!!

    Highly recommended.
