Which household job do you hate?

Now that gave me a chuckle John. Neither of us is fond of ironing so we buy things that don't require such attention to detail. When we worked, t'other half had to iron his own shirts as my theory was 'you don't iron my clothes so I don't iron yours'. He wore three-piece suits to work so he only ironed the sleeves of his shirts! Just last week I bought a hand-held garment steamer which I haven't even tested yet!

Actually we are not 'messy' people and tend to put things away when we are finished with them so there is never really anything 'out of place'. I line the tray in my oven with foil so if anything drips I can just throw it away and put a fresh piece in. I also always wipe the hob every time it is used (even if it isn't dirty) and the inside of my microwave with a wet J-cloth every time I use it and if I cook anything 'smelly' in it I put a small bowl of vinegar in for a minute to freshen it up. I do have a 'thing' about spotless saucepans (stainless steel), frying pans, casserole dishes and cooking utensils and have been known to spend far too much time with a Brillo pad in my hand!

I would love to have a maid once a week for a serious mopping of the floors (all tiled) and cleaning windows. I have recently discovered Flash febreze 'cotton fresh' and it smells divine which makes the dastardly deed far more tolerable.

Spruce, just saw your post ... I would gladly pay if someone would come to where I live! I do pay a gardener now once a month to do the 'heavy' work for me.

 

Vacuuming - having four dogs and three cats the hair gets flippin' everywhere and is a nightmare to get off the rugs

I don't mind dusting and the other stuff, just detest vacuuming.

comments about the ironing made me think of this .... Terry had an interview for an office job so i said i guess you need a shirt ironing then !
he looked at me blankly ... i went into the utility room and came back with the ironing board ... he looked at me in quiet shock ... i got the iron from under the sink (cleaning cupboard) ..... and proceeded to iron a shirt for him i thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head .... i told him not to get carried away i was only doing it for the interview if he got the job he could iron his own .... he replied it wasnt that i was just ironing a shirt it was that i actually owned an iron as in two years of living together he had never seen it !!! i replied thats because it is kept in the cleaning cupboard

I don't mind housework, it was just the 25 years of having to clear up somebody elses mess before I could get to things.

Its lovely now, went into a clean kitchen at lunchtime, cooked a roast dinner without having to do a weeks washing up before hand, all clean and tidy now ready for next time

Ironing seems to be in the forefront at the moment, but that dosesn't bother me too much. Having said I hate cleaning the ovens, I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact I hate cooking too. I've only just thought about it!

 

I like all aspects and jobs of the house, cleaning, cooking, the lot! I actually find it relaxing, and there's nowt better than an end result in anything.

Don't mind cleaning the ovens, just put a pan of water in there on full blast for 20 mins before hand

 

Al n, something's telling me you've got it all wrong, it's not normal to like all aspects of cleaning and to find it relaxing. Where did your other half find you and have you got an identical twin please?!
