Which Lawn Mower Would You Choose

Alas, its not that easy, I have fruit trees, shrubs, palm-trees and bushes, flower borders and many other things to cut around, so a ride on would be nice if it was for cutting say a football field but not for my needs.

 

I want to avoid getting in too deep, but most engines, bikes and many other items are all made in China, that includes motorcycles and even the king of the road Harley-Davidson and clothes, that's why I am never name struck because if you turn it over it will say "Made in China"

 

Quad cut mowers

 

All petrol mowers....to date I've had a Mountfield, Honda, Hayter and now a Husqvarna. My Mountfield was a good mower but are hopeless now the Chinese have taken them on, I've been told on good authority. My Hayter had starting and running problems from day one. I have a Husqvarna now, a lightweight machine with a Briggs and Stratton engine. On the whole I'm happy with it but the engine falters when mowing on a left sided slight incline. I had the Honda for many years and never a problem with it. Unfortunately as it aged I couldn't get replacement parts for it. I'd have another one now but the modern machines are heavy and not so easy to manoeuvre.

If your ground is level Weedaway I'd recommend a Husqvarna. Sorry, I don't know anything about quad-cut mowers.

 

I ordered a spare part for my Harley-Davidson from a main dealer supplier who blathered on endlessly about Chinese copies being rubbish and that HD replacement parts were made only by HD and no one else, when the part arrived I opened the packaging in front of the salesman and the item was stamped "Made in China"

 

This may be caused by your engine oil getting into the carburetor as it leans over, it may smoke a little when this happens as a giveaway sign.

 

No, it seems to be fuel starvation when it leans to the left, it doesn't happen when it leans to the right or on the level. Apparently Briggs and Stratton engines are prone to it.

 

Does it do it with a full tank of fuel or when the fuel is coming to an end.

I never allow the tank to empty (teaching of my late engineering father) but it doesn't seem to matter whether the tank is full or half full.
