Which shrub for birds?

    Does it have to be a shrub "M"? The trunk of a small tree will take up little space, I'm thinking of Sorbus, the birds love the berries and there's many types to choose from. The birds are more likely to settle in a tree as it's above the ground away from predators. :)

      Ooooh @Sheal thank you for the links; particularly like the look of the Sorbus Sheerwater Seedling Tree :thumbsup: That *would* be a good choice ... I'll have to give that some serious thought.

      I would like a small tree in the garden but was considering an apple of some sort ... don't know about having two trees with the space I have available though .... :wallbanging: :help:

        We didn't have any garden birds here at all until I got some evergreens established, @"M". They give shelter for nests as well as food. The best ones are Eleagnus ebbingii, with lovely big pink edible berries and can be kept pruned, and Rhamnus alternatus variegata, a pyramid-shaped variegated leaf shrub with small red berries. They're good to look at all year round, too!

            Blueberries strawberries raspberries redcurrants and blackcurrants ? Not bushes granted but I couldnt get near mine last year for all the damned blackbirds in them so they must be good for the birdies right? :snorky:
            The wee devils just might even leave a few behind for you to eat M ;)
