      Assuming it's quite a sunny border, if you are looking for a nice evergreen shrub I can recommend Osmanthus x burkwoodii. Small flowers but they smell gorgeous ...

      I also have Philadelphus Virginal which also smells lush ...

      If it's shady, you could go for Skimmia Japonica Rubella, which is white when the flowers open ...

      Or a nice white Rhododendron such as Avalanche ...

      If it's in part shade, you could go for a deciduous Azalea such as Whitethroat ...
