I work with my dog in the garden, she is a good help when planting new plants. I simply start to dig right next to where I want a hole dug, and she comes along and happily digs a lovely hole right next to me, perfect for my plant. Less work for me and she is as happy as can be.:blue thumb:! Just don't let her see you take peas off a plant and eat them, otherwise she will eat all your peas! She did just that last year, thought she'd gone quiet :doggieshmooze: hmm!

What I'd give for a helpful dog!

Otto gave himself bloat the other year by stealing and scoffing too many apples off the tree. He also helps himself to blueberries, blackberries, cherries.......

Poor Otto...has he learn't his lesson do you think?

My first Golden Retriever used to help me too...I only had to say...fetch my secateurs or my kneeling cushion and off he'd go to the shed and bring them back ....he was a marvellous dog:doggieshmooze:..don't think i'll ever get over being without him:sad:.....

Now Archi and Theo work as a team....Archi goes and gets things for me and Theo hides them:rolleyespink:

One of mine is a "Wild buffet snacker" too. She will wander around, where ever she is, sampling the fruit and veg like a connoisseur. She especially loves strawberries and starts wagging her tail as soon as she spots some. :doggieshmooze:
My little Jack Russell is a great digger too but he always ends up going too deep.
They are lovely people to have in the garden with me and I thoroughly enjoy their company. :)

i love having our two with me when gardening:imphrt: they like to follow you around, really close, and as soon as you pause in the one spot for a moment you can guarantee one or both will be sitting on your feet :wub2: thankfully they're not ones to be destructive in any way (digging ect)....although Freddy occasionally tries to help me when im trimming the grass edging with the shears/scissors, he's a much handier way of doing it though....he just rips it up roots and all with his teeth :gaah: for some reason this usually results in a giddy excited zoom around the garden at break neck speed :rolleyespink:
