Many thanks to @Fat Controller and also @“M” for getting the post moved for me.I was busy trying to watch the programme while it was on the telly and would have missed a chunk of it trying to get the problem sorted.:dbgrtmb:

I thought that Ginsters was in Cornwall because all their lorries have the Cornish Flag on them unless being blonde I have got that wrong:whistle:

I know the true Cornish pasty has the main course at one end and the dessert at the other, well that is what the Cornish history programmes tell us and I have seen old photos of them.

I do think the television is a marvellous invention and I have learnt more from programmes on the box than whatever I did at school:biggrin:

I don’t like the expensive houses in Cornwall and I read somewhere last year that some houses have been built with a local material (can’t remember what it is off the top of my head at the moment) that are causing the houses to practically fall apart over time or so I saw on Right Move last year and it can be a struggle to get a mortgage on the properties.

Also in the summer months there are too many people down there and at times the seas are a bit too polluted (see SAS....Surfers against Sewage articles) and I think one of the coves was full of stuff being washed into it the other year:nonofinger:

We quiet like Somerset ourselves and can get far away from the madding crowds when we walk in the hills but I expect that is because they are all down at Butlins:biggrin:

Good morning here I am wearing my Rose tinted glasses again, its this county lots of very fond memories old and new and as one of Woos favourite poems says it all;):blue thumb:

O! To stroll again on Dorset's rugged moor
Of tranquil memories, vivid and so pure
Where endless precious hours were often spent
And not one isolated moment did I lament
      Those momentary things inconsequential
But with each minute, view God's beauty - quintessential.
To feel the crisp of frost-covered heather beneath my sole
And heed the greens and purple where 'ere I stroll.
I felt not, bare-leg'd skin when rent by prickl'd gorse
Though ne'er once did I feel anger or remorse
At mother nature's loving, playful ways
That she bestowed upon me in my bygone days
O! To watch again grey smoke billow from the stack
Of toy-like engines with carriages, red and black
Chugging forward busily on tracks of steel
      Creating visions haunting and surreal
Over restful, matted heath and moor-land stream
Onwards, towards their journeys into nowhere, it would seem
Cutting swathes across the isolated heath
Their vented steam a-rising from beneath
And country folk who ne'er the fare could pay
Yet with their eyes enjoy their regal splendour
Majestic as an artist's eye would render.
They, to pace the hour-long walk along the track
From their humble cottages and back
To hear the mournful voices of the plover
Exchanging anxious calls to one another
When the wat'ry moon begins to slowly wane
And icy patterns form upon the window-pane
The skaters' frolics cease upon the frozen pond
As Jack Frost puts aside his wintry, magic wand
And hoary mists lay still upon the ground
He disappears into the night without a sound
When the time arrived for all to cease their roaming
I would depart for the warmth of home amid the gloaming

Mundic concrete, they also have Radon gas (been to a seminar covering both many years ago).

Twice in the past I've been in Cornwall and driven back to West Somerset for the remainder of my hols to get away from the crowds (and the surfers that make so many beaches unfishable).

          Nice read WO :)

Just back from the beach.......yes bit cooler but still feeling warm and all calm with the promise of another lovely day. Never get enough of this even though I do this most days......rabbits and the odd fox, refreshing air from a flat sea this morning and 3 miles of big soft sand. My start to the day. :)
Wherever you are have a great day everyone :)

A little question regarding Cornwall. Does it have heathland? :dunno:

Morning Sandy :).....yes, some. Spectacular in far west when sweeping down over rocks heading to the sea.
Cornwall is really about the coast......ranging from fearsome rugged rocks ....take a picnic there and you feel you are sitting on top of the sea :wow: ....... to the smooth soft access dunes to the beaches.
The Land of Legend, pirates , witchcraft, King Arthur and me :rasp:
            :)

We had to laugh here when I read about the houses falling down, mundic, radon and worse; :love30:nothing like how it is in Cornwall. We Cornish are a robust, healthy big race living on fresh fish and fresh produce. We surf, swim, play rugby (champions for 2 years running and usually making the final of the County Championship) and breathe healthy fresh air. Yes, house prices are high. Yep, we are inundated by visitors in summer....I guess there are a few who like to come here :rasp:

Never been to Sweden Sandy.....sounds a great place to live. :) New Zealand too, which is a possibility for me .:) I do love Cornwall but my antipodean roots are stirring again :)

Honoured members of the GC Jury. Based on the evidence presented here, I put the following facts to you all.

One: Cornwall is certainly an island, and as such not a part of England. This is proven without reasonable doubt due to the fact that of the two main roads into Cornwall, both cross water. Also, it has a long coastline as is common to larger islands.

Two: As it is proven in (1) above that Cornwall does not belong to England, the question arises as to where it does belong. As one of the main roads into the area is known as the "Atlantic Highway" which in itself is a known road in the Viking kingdom of Norway, and also the the fact that they eat strange foods wrapped in nettles, this in itself is enough evidence to suggest without reasonable doubt that it does, in fact, belong to the Viking kingdom of Normandy, and therefore, France.

Three: The case of fairies dance with Teddy boys wearing coats made of kangaroo skin made on Savile Row in morning clouds on heathland has not been proven.
