Thanks John only just seen this thanks to Harry's heads up.
It says its enabled by default, I've not turned anything off, my superhub just came in the post with a plastic spanner that broke when I tried to use it.
My PC only shows there being one connection?

How do I get to that web page?
I've put in the numbers but all I get is loads of gobledegoop, nothing like it shows in the video?

This may be too late going by the above it looks like you've found how to do it.

Just in case, the actual address, username and password are printed on the back of the SuperHub.

      Better explained here

      In summary:
In your web browser type in the address in the address bar:

      http://192.168.0.1

Then you should get the log in page:
      username: admin
      password: changme

I've downloaded something called Innsider as suggested by Virgin it shows that I dont have any conflicting signals on the same channel as me.
I think its just a problem with the signal not penetrating walls very well.

Exactly the symptoms I had @pete - £16 up would solve your problem

Yes. Log into the hub and select 'Modem Only' mode, then connect the hub to the router with an ethernet cable and use the router for your wi-fi.

The problems you are having with the hub are common, and this is one of the most common (and effective) solutions.

I agree with fc, get a better router. Although it says it is N strength it will be a very weak radio component in it. (You don't get anything for free!) I would buy TP Link, as that would match my desktop receiver as that it already 5Ghz. I would also recommend buying a router with external antennae that poke out the back of the router for better signal strength.

Netgear are also very good. I sold wireless routers for four years at Staples, very rarely would we get Netgear routers returned to us.

£50 would be a minimum spend for me on a router although we are forced to use ADSL2+ in Hull, so as fc suggested, buy the TP Link router.

I bought a netgear wifi booster for less than £20 today.

It seems to have done the job, so thanks for all the replies.

Is this the one you bought Pete ? They are selling for around £20 Ebay and a touch cheaper on Amazon.
I also presume your neighbours think your nuts as you walked the perimeter of your garden testing for signal strength

                That's the one @HarryS .

Been a bit wet for wandering around the garden today.
                Perhaps tomorrow.

My mother in law as the same problem changed channels but still rubbish seems to be signal strength that' is very low eg the circuit board antenna, s need upgrading , this allows any strong signal to swamp virgins

The internal aerials on a lot of these hubs are terrible
