Wild Flowers you have seen while out walking....!

I've no idea AB .. do you have deer near you?

 

Hi @"M" yes I'm afraid I do.... last year I planted about 8 new roses and 5 of them were chomped on by the deer that somehow get into the garden so I only had a short display on them

Its strange really as all the leaves are amongst daffs and they seem to be ok and untouched where as what I think are bluebells all the tops have been like chopped off.... I'll take a photo tomorrow and post as maybe its not bluebells and something else

In one the areas in the garden I am working on I have now nearly completed all my planting and between them I have scattered wild flower seeds as its a corner of the garden and I think that it will benefit from the colour and the height. I'm also hoping that it will attract the butterflies and the bee's. I paid a little bit more for the seeds as last year when I scattered some nothing materialised!

 

The only GC member who immediately springs to mind who has had to contend with any deer issues is @shiney - he may be able to give you some advice (other members may exist who have deer issues ).
Sorry to hear about your roses, so disheartening for you (let alone the expense!)

 

We got lots of Deer here, the woods where the Deer are is full of Bluebells but none have been eaten by the deer, yet?

I know I was gutted...... I spent a lot of time sorting an area out... with help from Woo and it all looked so lovely... I was so excited and thought that once they start to fill out they will look lovely... yeh... in my dreams.... I had to cut them back as every leaf and rose was gobbled up!! Not this year... I have a plan well I think I have

 

I do know that some cattle will eat Bluebells, but this may be because the farmer would always keep he's cattle tight on food (grass)

 

OH that's interesting.... maybe I have something else... Photo tomorrow for ID I think

 

What about rabbits having breckfast/lunch/tea

 

no I've checked the POO out and its deffo deer.. no rabbit poo in sight

I know it's not sheep as they just can't get in as we have a hedge all around and gates on both entries... Deer ... rabbits... ...birds...squirrels

@shiney ...This is what is in the garden ..... I can only identify them as bluebells? I love the idea of the soap... just cheap soap in bags... I think I can do that

 

Muntjac eat Bluebell leaves.

 

I had to look that up on the internetthingy Not sure I've ever seen them in the area... but then I guess there's a lot I haven't seen yet
