I had a nice walk along a lovely stretch of the River Tees opposite Middleton One Row yesterday and happened across these little beauties. Never seen these before and was the only clump I could spot. I haven't yet tried to ID it, will do later. If anyone one can do so then great.

They were nestling amongst the billowing greenery of a carpet of Wild Garlic in a stretch of woodland along the river bank which is regularly under water during flood conditions. The leaves were remarkably like Wild Garlic leaves and the yellow flowers about 10mm across. IMG_0356a.jpg IMG_0357a.jpg

Quite likely but you can easily tell if they're alliums. Crush a few leaves and see whether they smell of onion. :blue thumb:

        These are alliums

          Perfect call :dbgrtmb:

And here it is from my book of wild flowers. Quite rare and a member of the Lily family. Pleased as punch to have spotted it.

Not always easy because they have also cross-bred but the Spanish have wider leaves and have the bells blooming all the way around the stem. The British ones only have bells down one side and have a nice scent. :blue thumb:

Hi @shiney, I pinched out a leaf and no onion smell... Just a very sweet smell anyway after further investigation I found this between some new leaves coming up.... These have never flowered before as they were under a very overgrown area and had no sunlight... At the end of last year I chopped the whole lot down, and lots of different things are rearing their heads up so it will be interesting to see what comes up.... Here are some photos....

                  image.jpeg

                  Looks like blue bells?

                  image.jpeg

Something is eating the leaves as there are new chomped ones

That looks like a bluebell. They should flower OK in poor lighting. That's their favourite condition - that's why we have loads of bluebell woods. :blue thumb:

You'll just have to wait until they're in full bloom before you can see which nationality they are. If they're the wrong ones you'll have to deport them. :rolleyespink:

Good afternoon @shiney, I kept the flower I picked from the eaten leaves in water and this is what it looks like...

It's a very pale blue.... Almost grey :)

                    image.jpeg

It has a very strong aroma, now I'm really not sure what it is :dunno:
