I went on a different walk today & among other things went to see what Orchids I could find to photo.. We are on Limestone around here & the Trench is very damp all year round..

Also while on the walk I found a couple of these too, tucked away.. I was very excited to see them as I have never seen them in this area before.. The Lesser Butterfly Orchid..

    Like it Marley, like it:dbgrtmb:

I was pleased to see the orchids spread from the woodland edge across the field when grazing stopped.

Wasn't so pleased when they built a housing estate over half the field though:DOH:

Isn't it a shame when progress as they call it, interferes with nature Ziggy.. There are lots of Orchids in this woodland, plus it is beautiful up there to.. :hapfeet: This woodland goes back to medieval times & has been managed in some way or another all the time

Thank you so much for the wild flower stroll Aesculus. And thank you for naming them too as I had forgotten some of their names.

Nice one Aesculus:dbgrtmb: Some cracking stuff there. I would have got the Goats Rue confused with Liquorice.

confused me at first as well as I'd never seen it before  I think both the last few bugloss and the goats rue must have been part of some farmers green manure or fodder as I've never seen them around here before

You could well be right there, keep an eye out for Fenugreek & Afalfa as well in that case.
